So I installed a bunch of PS patterns yesterday and was fooling around. No problems there. Today I installed my old [and some new] collection of fonts, around 989 in all. I tried to use the text tool in PS CS4 and the program wants to close itself.

I get this error

Remove the fonts and add them in smaller groups until you isolate the problem?

How do i remove them?
I didn't copy and paste them into a fonts folder, C:\ because I couldnt find it
I dragged and dropped them into the fonts folder in the control panel.

i dont think i can remove them........??

The same folder that has the title 'Preview, delete, or show and hide the fonts installed on your computer'?

Ok i see now
I've organized the fonts by 'last modified'

could i delete them all and then start putting in a few at time or are some required do you think? I mean i don't want to delete system fonts

Yeah, it's definitely a good idea to not have that many fonts installed at once. "Exception Code: c0000005" is a memory error. Try using AMP Font Viewer (http://www.ampsoft.net/utilities/FontViewer.php) -- among other things, it lets you browse uninstalled fonts and install/uninstall them on demand when you want to use them (plus it's free). Also, your fonts should be in C:\Windows\Fonts\.

working with the program now it doesnt seem too helpful. i can't shift and select more than 1 font at a time

this is gonna take a while to remove them all

and how the heck do i know which ones i installed and which ones are system defaults?

I had a similar issue with CS5 on Win7 64.
At first I also assumed it was the pack of 1500 fonts I installed, but the NVidia DDS plugin turned out to be the culprit in my case.
So if you don't get anywhere with your fonts and you installed any plugins recently those might be worth a look as well.

even now as i'm typing
not a huge issue. everything is working now
