started modeling this yesterday. the plastic is one piece and was... an exercise, to say the least. i haven't done a weapon in several months soooo
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1725586/mpeg7/randy.jpg

One piece? That kinda OCD makes me moist..

However there is a tiny bit of stretching on the top lip of those two holes on the back of it, but thats nitpicking. Stellar work.

my non game art contribution to the thread - an audio amplifier based off the bare bones Squelette amp featured in Makezine about a year ago. Circuit board wired by hand and the case is a modified aluminum enclosure. well, i guess some of this can be considered 3d work - as I mocked up the design in 3ds max before making it.
-sounds awesome by the way

bonebrew - its lookin ace man nice work. if i had to crit some things, it would be the front of the shins look a little strange (they should have a slight curve where they connect with the bottom of the knee) and the neck looks rather long. either way, nice workflow, its really transformed since i saw it last. lets see that thing finished

Hi Guys:)
This is my first post, and wy not be a WIP?
This is a werewolf that i'm doing that is a mix between an anatomicaly correct werewolf(in my opinion), and a cartonistic werewolf.
For now this is the modeling part of the project, it was done exclusively in silo, i'm thinking in doing the mapping in Blender, since the mapping tools of Blender are a little better than silo's.
As soon i have the mapping done i will place it here.
Feel free to give any advice regarding the design or the wire flow, they are welcome!

I made a lil' tutorial on creating ivy (or any wall-centric foliage, really) for a scene I completed a little while ago. I buried it inside the old ivy thread in technical talk, and thought a few more people might see it here. Hope some people can make some use out of this, or post their own solutions.

Damn nice ocarian, I love it! I like the way you painted the clothes and specially the hair, but IMHO I feel the skin is somewhat lacking in detail, it looks flat compared to the rest. Maybe just painting subtle tone differences like some soft ambient occlusion on the inside of the elbows and knees or the armpits.

@echoperson - great work! I think some time could be spent profitably on the trees, though. As it stands they seem to be one model duplicated all over the scene, and for a portfolio piece you want to do a bit more work than that. Plus they have some odd connections with the ground in places (one of the trees in the middle back especially seems to have a black ring around its connection point).

felipefrango
04-12-2011, 09:08 AM
@echoperson I agree with the previous comment on the trees but they don't seem to me like the focus of the composition, I'd worry about the things you want to be the focal point for now.

IMHO I'd work on a ground texture to break up the uniformity on the green terrain, something brown or biege like an earth texture you can use on the pathway in front of the house, something else to paint on top of the small hill on the left, I don't know. Also maybe paint the door red or some other contrasting color so it doesn't blend into the browns of the wood and the stone? Either way, it looks promising, I like the style and the composition a lot!

I'm diggin the design, will be a blast see him moving around all quirky. Though I'm not sure how he's deforming. Have you done any characters earlier with similar topology that didn't have problems with deformation around the wrist and elbow?

The nose on the mask has a built in nose but the horns are separate, is there any special reason for that? you could super save 8 tris there ^^

First off, nice stuff people! :P This is a model I wrapped up the other day, It's supposed to be a M136AT4 FPS-style. It's on 4225 tris and yep I throwed in a Call of Duty hand in the FPS-testing-shot, made it look a little bit more in-game-ish than a front grip hanging in the air. Cheers!

Sci-Fi Beer cooler!
http://i51.tinypic.com/50i0ck.jpg
Actually its a SCI-FI INSTANT CHILL/STORAGE/RECYCLE&COMPACT BEER COOLER.

My idea is that you can use the top hole to instantly chill a beer or to store a beer and keep it chilled inside.

The bottom hole will be used to recycle and compact your beer, whether its glass or metal.

On the right side is where the you pick up beer that you stored or just chilled.

High poly is done, moving on to the rest of the steps to finisih it now.

luke, that's one good looking couch

jramauri, even though you nailed the likeness (unless I'm dead wrong and this isn't Paris Hilton) the features you've emphasized seem arbitrary, at least I wouldn't say her most prominent feature is the forehead or hair although the face stylization is perfect IMHO. Execution is perfect, though, you're improving fast, the hair looks awesome.

JR
04-12-2011, 08:57 PM
Thank you very much, Felipe! I was thinking the same during the execution. It works much better as a regular portrait than as a caricature. It's a shame, because her face is very unique... But this time I failed in capture what is more important.

But although I wasn't happy with stilization, I think the technical part was good, then I decided to post here anyway. I promise to be more careful next time.

mr cash , the gun is nicely executed, clean modeling etc, the only thing that strikes me as odd is the over detailed look of it, there are no eye resting areas on it and everything has a somesort of distracting detail , also i cant see how it would be possible to reload that . Great job nontheless !

@Mr.Cash, good looking handcannon so far, but why the clip? I think I would like it better without that and rather add some sort of detachable stock sort of like what you'd find on a mauser, hi-power or stechkin.

yeah that has to be it... but why two for each function i wonder? usually one does the jobNot to start a discussion about this, but in short it seems: More than 2 valves per cylinder (in most cases 4 valves) will give better engine performance. Read more here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-valve)
Now show us moarr engine :)!

Hey man, the round tiles and the flat tiles are just separate, yay for floating geo! And then for each wall piece there are four versions of the completed roof in the picture. This is so i can have different length walls around my level! If that didn't make sense i'll make another picture, I think i confused myself!

1966 tris - 1024 diffuse only not lit - getting ugly seams since I baked it at a higher game res then reduce it, so UVs got moved some, gonna have to rebake.
