Has anyone tried UDK Remote yet?

I loaded up the default scene that comes with UDK Mobile, and am trying to test out the UDK Remote via iPhone to move around on the test window on my PC. So far, I'm doing something wrong already :poly142:

I put in my IP address and my port on the iPhone app, but I am not getting a response via my PC. I don't believe I have any firewalls or such on either.

I've read over the documentation many times but can;t figure out why it isn't working? Maybe it's something stupidly simple.

Let me know if you guys have it going yet!

And yes, I'm using the "Mobile Previewer" option in UDK's window.

I've had mine working on my ipad since day one, I just found my ip with ipconfig , in cmd, put that in remote and it did the rest, it sometimes won't register my touching right away, but it's worked very well for me, I know some people who have used the tilt also

Hmm..wierd. I gave it my pc's ip and routing #...I used ipchicken.com. Maybe that's the problem? lol..

Just use cmd and type ipconfig, it should be someting like 192.168.0.123

Yeah, I used ipconfig to find the IP and it works like a dream. I was hoping to be able to install the build on the device but it turns out you need a Apple licence to go that far. :/ The remote is very cool tho!

Sounds like you are using your external IP. If you have a router, then you're gonna have a different number.

IP config on PC, punch that number into the iPod/iPhone/iPad/iTruck/iHamster and that's it.

Awesome. Thanks guys, especially you Lamont, didn't know I had to use my router ip specifically. =) So fun....

Yes, anything behind the router is what you want. Usually 192.168.0.X number.

Ok so for anyone not getting it, for future reference...

1) Use router ip (Usually begins with 1.92.168.X.XX)

2) DON'T change the port number. That port number is, I think, just for using UDK Remote.

3) You MUST be on a WiFi network for it to work. A 3G connection alone will not allow it to work.

There we go, for peeps who have troubles.

Did you accidentally block UDK when you installed? Check Windows Firewall.

it seems that UDK isnt even being shown on my firewall list.. at least this current version. only thing there is the first UDK that i installed and the ball demo.

when i put in the IP from ipconfig, it says on udk remote "sending touch and tilt info" but nothing happens. im running wireless internet on my computer as well.. could that be a factor?

Then add the UDK entries, should be 6 of them from my count 2 for UDK, and 4 for UDK Mobile. I am on Win7 Ultimate.

Anyone tried this using an ipod touch? I can't get past waiting to connect.

I put in a wrong IP as a test and it immediately gives me the "Failed to resolve!", warning, so I know its recognizing my ip.

At this point I'm wondering if the ipod touch isn't fully compatible but I wouldn't doubt that I have missed something important.

Works fine on both my 2nd gen and 4th gen Touch devices. Make sure UDK remote isn't blocked by Windows Firewall.

@Lamont

Thanks, glad to hear it does work. I don't see UDK remote listed in the allowed programs. Do I need to install it on my PC, or is there a file in my UDK folder I need to find?

Lamont

No, but there are ports for it. It would be listed as UDK under your listed allowed ports.

Still no luck, I've allowed every version of udk on the windows firewall settings. I have also followed every other step and am pretty sure I'm doing it right.

Do ports need to be forwarded on my router? I've been looking through the epic forums and have seen several people having the same issue where they can't get past "waiting to connect".

I also tried changing the port to 41766, but the result is the same, this leads me to believe it may be a router issue, but I don't know enough about networks to be sure.

Thanks again for all the help this far.

Not working for me either. This is a huge bummer, I've tried everything too.

Also don't forget that you need to run the game in the mobile previewer (or with the -simmobile tag) for the game to be picked up by UDK remote - not the PC previewer!
