Hey Everyone,

I have some modular pieces I am trying to lay out diagonally to the grid.

The problem is that once I rotate the sections at this arbitrary diagonal angle (30 degrees) it isn't on grid anymore.

It would be nice if there was some way to vertex snap my sections together in UDK so I didn't have to make an entirely new set of geometry inside 3dsmax and then export that as one big diagonal chunk.

Is there anyway to do that, and does anyone have any experience something like this?

Buld prefab sections in a straight manner, rotate them as whole? Doesn't have to be prefabs even but those make it easier to select them. There really is no way to "rotate" the grid or anything, nor is there any vertex snapping.

Btw are you talking about straight section at arbitrary angles, or curved sections that need to line up in a full curve? The latter is much more difficult to work with...

I have an on grid hallway that bends 60 degrees and keeps going at an angle.

Make the hallway on the grid without rotating it first. After you have assembled it into full length, rotate it.

I just decided to make the bend 90 degrees and change my composition. The problem is that the end of bent section isn't on grid so rotating it wont work. It's a tricky and annoying problem. You will note that most games that are on grid don't use oblique angles like this.

Well yea, but you can turn off the grid too, and accurately place the big part then.
