Hey everyone... I just finished some props and wanted to share them with you.
I tried to do some 3d concept art this time and then do final in-game models for all three. So basically I sketch some rough concepts in PS then do some modeling in max, not caring about good topology of anything in those lines, just to get some ideas out quickly, then create some composite shaders (arch&design - mental ray) and apply them to everything with simple box mapping. then I painted and do some post over the 3d renders in photoshop again.

Sci fi props are meant to be from 2050-2100

1) Lightbug -Power generator: This unit has a tesla core, and generates energy that outputs through it's 4 channels. I wanted it to look strong but a bit organic too.

2) Mobile Disinfection Unit: This unit serves to disinfect chemical plants, it has 3 modes, and is loaded with V-formula. It also has a toolbox and core-formula supply compartment.

this is a proxy anim just to show better how it works:

*I change completely the side parts in this prop in the ingame version, because I think they were too messy in the concept.

3) well this is just a rock! where some animal died and left a blood trail.

Any comments & crits are welcome! thanks!

... also some logos I did to give it a little more sense, Tesla will be the main brand.

Nice work. I really like your process for 3d concepts.

thanks chadabees, I did some passes using mental ray render elements and comp them in PS. Raw mr reflections and raw spec mainly besides the render itself.

some wireframe on that generator could be nice of you ^^

vofff, my low poly isn't well optimized and has lots of extra unnecessary geo but here it goes!, its all retopo from the highres concept I did using topogun (well a big part of it- some stuff I redid the high res because the concept topo was crappy). I was learning topogun at the same time so this was a good exercise!! Also I mentioned it somewhere but once again topogun just rocks...not only for retopo but also for texture baking is the best I tried so far.

Also I had a big time constraint all this props were done in around 1 month time, working at nights 2/3 times a week around.

hey thanks man!

Really nice man especially the texturing work, i notice u can optimize that a lot better without losing any siholette or any decals for that matter like the front panels where the switches / buttons have wayyy too many poly's. Could also get away with reducing the spheres density on the top left and some other stuff. But other then that great stuff :D

Thanks Raider! yes you are right about optimization I'll leave this one as it is and move forward though... I'll take in account optimization a lot more for upcoming work.
