View Full Version : 3dsmax: Pelt mapping only wants to use eye for seams
I'm trying to pelt map a head model, and I'm running into a problem I've never had before. I've got the seams set up as best I know how:

But when I go to pelt map, it seems to only want to pull out the eye:

Naturally this has less than desirable results:

Did I do something wrong? How do I fix this?

Honestly... pelt mapping isn't all it was cracked up to be since they improved the relax algorithms. I would cylindrical unwrap it and relax parts and pieces with soft select turned on. Or planar map it, select your pelt seams break the edges and relax.

I had exactly the same problem a while back. Tried lots of different things but never got it working, so I don't know what the problem was. Would be interesting to know.

Easiest fix: Cap the Eye temporarily for unwrapping...delete the polygon afterwards.

Yeah, I ended up just reverting and redoing it, seemed to work fine. I guess it's just 3DS Max being 3DS Max :poly122:
