Maya's quadrangulate does not seem to work on some meshes one of our artists got from max, anyone got a custom tool that works better than maya's native one?

If max is an option, it has that too, in that ribbon everyone hates. Thats 2010 and up, though.

Have you tried running Mesh>Cleanup first?

Only reason I can think of is that maybe the vertices got broken on import, maybe do a Merge Vertices before trying Quadrangulate?

What do you mean by "not work", do you mean it literally does nothing? Or does it quadrangulate the mesh, but badly?

MoP, it literally does nothing.

nullfed, no I haven't tried that yet I'll take a look at it later I don't have the file on my machine I'm posting for one of our artists.

Andy found a solution, the infamous combine with cube has fixed the model and now it can be quadrangulated normally.

Is there anything that can't be fixed by attaching a cube to it?! god bless you little cube.
