Hey guys posting up some WIP of my gun based off the gun from the anime Trigun. I have a bunch of reference I'll post up here. I'm definitely not a gun fanatic but I know alot of you Polycounters are so I hope to get some brutal crit to help make this a good portfolio piece :D.

I'm still very unhappy with the hammer (i think that's what it's called) part and still have to model the little switch that opens the gun for reloading.

Please crit as harshly as you can! And sorry if the wires are hard to see.

LOVE IT!!!

BUT! i think you need to work on your edges as they are at 90 degrees and will not look that great when you bake.. You should do some nice bevels along the edges.. notice in the reference you catch highlights along the edges.. yours wont do that sadly enough..

Well, your hammer looks very weird, Just stick to the references and it will look great, good work soo far.

Yer be careful of your edges, even in the refs they aren't 90 degrees and u want to avoid that as well for the bake

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm taking the time to go in and soften some of my really hard edges. I'm spacing out my control edges so that they don't create such a 90 degree angle when smoothed. I compared this to simply removing the control edge and beveling. When smoothed they appeared about the same. Is there any real difference?

Yup chamfer all those edges and it should look good.

really cool so far

the hammer seems far too wide, and perhaps the shape could be more conventional like in the reference. might help make the gun feel more believable/functional

Here's a bit of an update. Worked on the hammer a bit more, going for something like the hammer in the last reference picture. Also tried softening a few edges, still most are probably too hard right now.

I know there's not much that's changed but as always crit and comments are always welcome!
