I noticed that when i wrote in "advanced"-mode the message box was outside the "frame"... seems to be adjusted now though I'm not sure.

no 'jump to first unread' on threads?

EarthQuake
05-24-2010, 08:44 AM
No link redirection, tons of users now have broken links in their signatures.

No widescreen theme, pages take up about 55% on a 24" monitor, maybe 70% on a 20". Should be closer to 90% on both.

It's said logged in as (some random user name, it has said a few) on the main page.

Some css padding weirdness under Safari + OS X with the simple quick reply text box.

Calendar still seems forked..... just as an example, 3 people in this thread that publicly list their info don't show up on the calendar... i know it's basically just a place that says, "hey it's so and so's birthday, woohoo! -> create thread of phallic cakes and references!" which is trivial and silly and all around pointless, but ZacD should have a birthday thread this year for as obsessive as he is about posting, and when that day comes, by golly, i wanna know about it! (run-on sentence with abusive use of commas, grumble grumble grumble)... not really a bug, but yeah.

Same for me on the News page.
So far, I've been Needles, and BradMyers82 (damn Brad, that's crazy!!!!!!) but it doesn't log you into their account or allow access, just shows your username as someone else. If you click UserCP, it goes back to your account, but switches to another username on display in the news section with each new click/entry.

NM! I'm blind....

Same here. It said I was logged in as another user, although it only seems to affect the front page.

Yep, the home page told me, "Hey there, BradMyers82!".

affirmative, does this on the main page and the tf challenge page, it changes users everytime you click the banner or the home page.

I'm assuming it's a bad SQL statement. It's probably grabbing from the 'logged in users' list rather than the logged in user.

Vito
05-24-2010, 10:20 AM
I suspect the "I'm logged in as someone else on the home page or on article pages" thing is because we're showing cached pages even to logged-in users right now.

We're expecting a lot of traffic today, so that'll keep happening, but when it dies down a little I'm going to shut that part off and see if that fixes it.

That's actually incorrect, statistically. :P

User Profile pages have broken images (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2976372/brokezenimgz.jpg)

This was broken on the previous site too. Maybe its just chrome, but it bugs the bajesus out of me :)

//edit: just realized they are "edit" buttons. The "view your profile as everyone else..." link has similar broken images on the right side in the friends lists and other panes.

- probably already mentioned:
*edit

GAAAA stupid stupid - what i meant is the header *replaces the word footer w/ header:

Polycount header image and the header links are all floating left aligned and there is an excess amount of vertical padding between the header and forum content...

- main forum content is centered fine - looks a treat! (great work pc guys :D )

24/5 6.50pm: seems to be solved -at least on safari 4.0.5

MaD

not really a bug, but just a tiny remark: wouldn't it be just a lot more logical to put general discussion on top op the page and just archieves on the bottem. I never go into the archives, unless when i'm searching...

adam
05-24-2010, 04:43 PM
Archives is part of the General category, so without giving Archives its own category that's not possible (time being).

As well, P&P is the top forum right now because it's the highest traffic forum we have, with General being #2.

adam

You're right, its closer to 52% at 1920x1200 on a 24" screen, and 68% at 1680x1050 on a 20"... I'm actually surprised how accurate i was for pulling the numbers out of my ass actually.

@adam:

I like the fact that p&p is put on top, since it puts the focus slightly more on art, but it's just weird to not have something general on top. And couldn't you just loose the archives in the forum display, but keep them available when searching. AND it's just nitpicking or how you say it in english, sorry

It seems to have stopped atm, but for a bit every other page load I was being logged out. (opera 10)

Edit: Hasn't happened for close to an hour & 1/2 now so, maybe just from the earlier server load? Either way its stable now. :poly136:

New bug: The header isn't working on the forums.

Great work guys.

I'm having some problems with the "New Posts" forum link.
This is the only thing I used to browse the forums before, it lists all the latest posts in all sections in order of date, so useful to avoid having to switch from section to section all the time.

Worked fine before, but now it seems to reset posts all the time as if I'd already read them, so most of the time the list is practically empty. Any chance of having it work how it used to?

Hmmm, is it just me, or do all unread posts on a page get marked as read, even if you just read one of them ?

I could swear i had a few green threads in one of the subforums, then read one of them, and going back to the listing all of them were grey.

Or are they only green based on the last time one visited the respective subforum ?

Edit: Can't seem to reproduce the exact behaviour of "read one, all get marked" now, but there seems to be a general problem with threads being marked as read, even tho they have new content. Maybe i should clear my cookies :d.

"This is the home for all the beautiful artwork you see in Polycount's headers. All of this artwork was created by one of talented community."

I'm a major fan of humeristic English but believe the above one wasn't intentional.

no 'jump to first unread' on threads?

I am missing this badly. I assume there is some other way to get to first unread post in a thread. Browsing new posts in the huge threads is a pain when you have to start from the back to find the first post you have not read.

It's filled at first, but as soon as you check 2 or 3 topics, when you click New Posts again, there's almost nothing there anymore.

I'm having the same issue with the unread threads. When I first checked the TF2 contest submissions there were about 10 or so of them Green and unread. Then after I checked one or two of them most of them were grayed out.

Can we darken the background of the signature block of the post? There are times where posts seem to read right into the signatures.

On that note, it would be nice to limit signatures to one line as well.

Dado Almeida
05-25-2010, 01:33 PM
@Slum: yeah, I've diminish mine to two lines, another thing that looks helpful is to centralize it, making a break in the post text (mainly left aligned).

Just encountered a bug.:)

Left clicking the "!Reply" button under a post doesn't work. Nothing happens when you left click it. If you middle click (or open the link in a new tab) it will load up fine with a quote reply.

Tested in Chrome and Firefox 100% reproducible on my end.

Looks stonking great!

Though, one thing though, I cannot, for some reason access the new front page? I still get the costume party message, although I am able to read both the Ryan Clark interview and the TF2 competition thingie through linkage..

Dunno if there has been an announcement I am blatantly unaware of, although I did look for one both here and on the twitter. I am using chrome, if that has anything to say..

I also have problems with the new posts - I haven't checked for about 24 hrs, and there's only 2 posts showing as green? Very odd.

I'll second darkening the BG of the signatures, I've had to turn them off for now to get a nice reading experience. I'd also love to have the box above the message's BG a bit darker (name, & time posted). Basically just make the post stand out a tiny bit more for readability.

And where's the jump to first unread post? I remember that from a long time ago, and it went away at some point, I loved that feature!!

Looking at a forum, clicking the green arrow to "go to last post" on the right hand side under the user name.

If you are logged in and perform this, it goes to the last post of that thread. If you are logged out and perform this same operation, it just goes to the top of the page of that thread.

So typically, if you are not logged in, it orders oldest post at the top, newest post at the bottom. Logged in, orders newest post at the top, oldest post at the bottom. If this makes any sense............. being logged out and clicking "go to last post" you are not really going to the last post, you're going to the top of the page.

Its an "H" at the end, so its attach. It just lets you know there are attached images in the thread. I was wondering the same thing for awhile as well haha.

bumping because this is still bugged on the front forum page.
it works fine now if you are in a forum like GD, or P&P, but at the front end, if you are logged out, still bugged.

I am having an issue when posting with Firefox 3.6.3.

It takes several clicks to be able to start typing in the box and when I hit "submit reply" it tells me "The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 1 characters." and clears the reply box.

No problems with IE 9 though.

This isn't so much a bug as a suggestion to fix a minor annoyance, but would it be possible to change the 'go to last post' button so it's a little bigger?

I don't care about "go to LAST post" as much as "Go to first new post", myself... especially on the massive threads like the "What are you working on" thread.
