Everything that's been said I already agree with. As far as the eyes go I'd just line up the bottom and top verts so it'd be easier to animate and deform. You've got to texture this thing.

i think he heans that on the eyeballs have the utter most bottom and the top verts line up so that when it comes to animating the eyes they spin on those verts.

Yeah, stocko had it correct. Basically when working on an eye it's a lot easier to work with whenever the top and bottom vertices line up. Like this.

But that's ideal and not always completely necessary.
