The legs seem a little underdeveloped. The rest of the character seems pretty muscular, but the legs look a little weak in comparison.

The definition of the muscles are nice however it
seems as though you have strayed away from the original concept
a little. The character now seems stocky and almost "dwarfish" compared
to the gangly, "golem"-esque like characer in the concept.
I would expect the pawn piece in chess to be a weak piece, but in the right
hands it could surprise and frustrate your opponent. I think you need to emphasize this more in your character. Show it as something initially perceived as weak but with the power to surprise.
Proportionally, give it longer legs. Perhaps a more anorexic appearance which would complement a ferocious and hungry facial expression.
Again, look at Golem (LOTR) for reference. Good luck.

If this is a portfolio piece then you really should stick to the concept. No company cares how well you can free form a model (unless you want a concepting job in which case there are other things to consider) they want to see you reproduce a concept as closely as possible in 3d. What you have looks cool but its nothing at all like the concept. You need to try and pick a concept and stick to it.

Thx for reply Xaltar.I did not tried to follow the concept peice because the contest consists of many characters united by the style and idea.so i went my own way with the concept because i have an idea for the whole chess set and the initial of the concept does not fit to my topic of the chess set

Hmm... to be honest, I have no idea whats happening here. The sculpt is nice, but everything else is just so random, I think its bringing down your piece.
And the colour choice... again, just doesn't make sense man.

This.
When I first saw this topic I was pretty excited with where it could go, but I think you took this in the completely wrong direction. :(

I agree with some of the other comments, one thing I will add is that even if you did decide to stray and go your own way, you stated you wanted to make an angrier version. When I see the concept and your piece side by side I would def. have to say that the concept conveys anger a bit more (or at least fierceness - your piece looks like a friendly old war torn gnome, while the concept looks like a scary as fuck gonna kill me zombie/gnome.)
*EDIT: don't get me wrong - its cool, but I don't think its being conveyed what you want or where you wanted to go with it.

I think you need to get a solid concept down before you start modeling and texturing. Every progressive step seems to go off in a different direction than the last and the whole piece just doesn't match.
As for his metal shoulder guard, there needs to be a strap or something holding it to his body.
Id say go back to your concept and get that down pat before you try and approach the coloring stage.
