It's a throwback to PSO, when the series was actually good! It's like an mmo in your pocket! The red boxes! The red boxes! oooooooh!

That looks awesome. The standard of games for the DS just keeps getting more and more impressive. Isn't Infinite Line coming out next year? Seems like I've been waiting for that game for about two years now.
One for the Christmas list....

I'd like to check it out more but that's the main site for it? Kinda flimsy and unfinished...

I knew nothing about this... more PSO is always cool though I don't have a DS so I won't be playing it (not to mention that I have to avoid falling back into that addiction... it was a dark time in my life :D)
Do the rares really still drop in red boxes?

Yes, the red boxes are still there. Got the game yesterday and really liking it. It sadly has the ol' DS target demo in mind and everyone in the game seems to be 5 years too young to be doing what they're doing, but I can deal with that.
It also just 'feels' smaller, which is a result of it being on a handheld, having a low rez and thus shorter draw distance, and it trying to do things the original PSO did and not entirely pulling it off. The environments feel like little, modular theater sets, not the mysterious worlds I loved so much from the first.
But at the end of the day there's lots of loot, Mags, and people to play online with so I can't complain. Not paying a monthly fee or anything.

For anyone else that's thinking of picking this up early on import:

Pretty decent price (works out around £23 right now), and their service comes highly recommended.

Import away! All versions can play with each other anyway. Plus, there are no language barriers when it comes to drawing stupid pictures with the pictochat.
