I thought I'd share my current WIP. Done start to finish (so far) in 3DC, soon time to export to LightWave for rendering, maybe a little hair.

BTW the poly count here is 195,264 or 3,051 with a displacement map.

Looks like you got inspired by the LOTR orcs here. You have scratched out some nice major forms but much of it can be much more refined and look less flat. Take a look on this piece (link below from latexmaskcentral.com) and try to make the wrinkles, muscles, tendons, bones etc more round in shape. As I get the impression now you have barely scratched a shape in place but not taken it into its proper form.

Keep up the good work!

Hmm.. Obviously that's a different orc, but the amount of detail looks about the same to me. This was based on the Moria Orcs if that means anything to you, so yes, LoTR.

BTW if interested I made a few making-of videos. These are in HD so it's better to click through to YouTube. none show the entire process, but an hours worth for the first 2, just to get an idea of my workflow.

The link bjoz posted seems like a good goal to aim for detail and expression wise.

i think at this stage u need to go back and study anatomy more befor eyou put more details on your sculpts. the details are very sketchy and not organic at all. it would help you more if u study skull anatomy too.

Made a few anatomical changes suggested by Steve Mitchum at IGT Games along with some slight dental work.

lazy. needs tons more work. especially in the eye and mouth area.
not just the texture, but the sculpt as well. you need to get some pores going, more contrast, in.. everything, but especially the creases, get some colour variation going in the face.
throw some yellow into the mixer, and on the highlights, get the tips of the creases darker.. etc.
