I had a real hard time trying to figure out what melee weapon to do. I found good firearms reference at http://primeportal.net/, but I don't know any sites for melee weapons. If anyone has any good melee weapon sites, let me know.

Thanks 8Monkey Labs, Marmoset is really great. I just need to figure out how to maximize viewport/hide options.

Lookin good, really liked how it came out. My crits are that the base of the handle could have probably been unwrapped together as one unit instead of a bunch of little pieces, and I am not feeling the bright white parts. I would keep it all the same material and color like the ref.

Also if your gonna work on the diffuse a bit more I might add some finer scratches to the metal to get it that worn feel.

Lastly I think it would look good if you added some areas on the metal withing the spec map that weren't so shiny. In the concepts the parts of the metal that are worn or rusted don't seem to shine as much and give more of a flat look.

Ah yeah, that makes all kinds of sense. I get back in town Sunday so I'll probably fix up the diffuse and spec then. That stuff will be easy to change.
