Ok. I made a concept for the workshop. Here it is.
http://files.getdropbox.com/u/93793/ConceptWorshop3.png
I used that Concept from the main workshop thread as a base, then added a water valve and half a cog.
Not sure about the water valve tho..
Maybe this type would look cooler.

Well see what workd best.
Gonna try and record some modeling parts and whatnot:)

Nice, I like your idea. The photoshop concept is surely going to be very helpful too. My only comment - Perhaps some barbed wire wrapped around the top, or some big nasty 'junkyard' welds would help make the gear look at little more attached than just sticking it there. good stuffs tho, cant wait to see progress

The welded cog is a winner! Real street fighting. I don't like the water valve much, since it doesn't seem to fit much in the design, it runs out too much feeling unbalanced. What about something more massive and compact like a pipe fitting?
The T junction on the upper right, aged and rusted, would fit well keeping the whole design balanced, maybe screwed in not exactly perpendicular to the main pipe axis. The L with squared block would cause much damage too.

Most sprockets are usually made of some sort of steel. Unfortunately you couldn't weld steel to brass piping. To make the concept more plausible, you might want to change the piping to cast iron piping. But even then, steel welding to cast iron wouldn't be very strong, it would most likely break off the first few strikes. Just some factors to consider.

awesome work so far. Since the gear is basically supposed to be the cutting/chopping end of the weapon, the other end should be a good 'bopping' tool imo. Id go with something heavier than the first image you posted... that little handle would get all bent out of shape after the 4th or 7th time you wailed somebody in the head with it.
Maybe more like this w/o the handle?

Looks good Pedro. I personally like the Valve... valve but doing the other one might be more fun. Those welds would probably look fine if you just made them a bit smaller.

Your welding technique is top notch and I don't really mind if it seems too massive, I think it helps to sell the concept. Just two opinions about the cog: it is a bit too thick and a bit under defined in the outer rim. I got in mind something like a bicycle cogwheel. shouldn't it have some sort of spoke (don't know if the word is right, I mean the junction between the hub and the outer wheel). What about welding a series of say three half cog, slightly different in shape and size, but slimmer, at a quite close angle? It could become like a modern mace on one side and a sort of hammer on the other one. Definitely cool :)

Truly you are a god of 3d.
I love the slight bend of one of the spokes in the gear. It makes it look like its actually hit something hard (Like a skull) and bent.

Very good work Pedro, but as is heard in WC3: "WE DEMAND ADDITIONAL WIREFRAME! MORE WIREFRAME IS REQUIRED!" :D
... and you're a little off with the tris count you gave by yourself :P
