I don't seem to have the option to attach images to my posts. I do not have a Manage Attachments button below my message box. I've looked for stickies and FAQs that address this.
http://boards.polycount.net/faq.php?s=&do=search&q=attachments&match=all&titlesonly=0
Based on that, it would seem that I should have a Manage Attachments button, but I don't. I'm assuming that Polycount does host images for their forums...being that it's a graphics forum and all...but I'll be buggered if I know why I don't have the option to do so.

wrong place to post this, but host your images using photobucket or whatever, then use (link) Tags to display image in post

In the posting box there's a small picture with mountains and a sun or something like that, click on that, type in the link to your image after you upload it to an image hosting site, and you're all set

could you post a screenshot because I have never ever seen it here on polycount- been using opera, firefox and chrome mostly so far. Or is it something that is only available in the internet explorer?
it would be actually nice to have some visual buttons on this board with which I could format and insert elements wihtout typing them myself each time.
I noticed however that ctrl + b bolds the selection as well as ctrl+ i makes it italic (though it probably gets ignored in this style)

Mine shows up like this:
http://i41.tinypic.com/sw7ka9.jpg
And if you use the button and copy-paste the URL it shows it in the preview window too. I have JavaScript enabled and Java off.

using opera 9.64 (but the same with Firefox 3.0.8 XP SP3 (so even never versions) - also same with the advanced reply mode.
Coud it be because of the theme, or because of some language setting ?

I just upload images to Flickr. The forums dont allow you to attach images like conceptart.org does. you have to link to them externally.

Weird, mine has those little icons on the quick reply box. Renderhjs, what browser are you using?
Also, do you see these icons if you click the "Go Advanced" button?

Ahh I figured it out you guys have your "Message Editor Interface" preferences set to "Basic Editor - A Simple Text Box"
Click UserCP (upper left corner)
Click Edit Options
Scroll down to the bottom and under Misc Options
Change Basic Editor to Enhanced WYSIWYG

Sorry for putting this in the wrong place. Thanks everyone for the info.
Polycount should really look into hosting images. The problem with external links is that they tend to get broken over time, which makes some fantastic threads almost useless if you want to go back and refer to them.

I have my own domain for important images, for anything else I use temporary solutions such as www.imageshack.us because its often quicker to upload multiple images and retrieving the image URL's. I use them often for paint overs and help for others if words are not enough to explain things, its not that trivial if those images get lots after 3-4 months.
A own domain and web space is not that expensive and it really is the best place to store your personal stuff. I have been backtracked several times by companies and other persons that saw older stuff from my that of course was linked to my domain and website which is how they often contacted me.

dustin, I think that's the direction they want to take the site, but I don't think its possible with the current set up. I think resources are kind of tight as is but we'll have to see where things go in the future.
Dropbox! Easiest file store system I've ever used, 2gb too.
