Lots of great work here! So, this is the start of my model, I've been lazy so I didn't post anything earlier. I'm modeling a cyborg gorilla (concept to come), and this is his base head. He will have plating and mechanical bits attached to his head. This isn't his final sculpt, I hope to have that done after I get the mechanical parts put in. Hope you guys like him!

very nice start. eager to see it with the mechanical bits and rest of him too

fantastic sculpting! Do you have any of the cyborg parts worked out or are you going to freeball it as you go? Be careful with this one -- there's a popular spawn character named "cygor" (my room mate loves that guy) who is a hard mix between a gorilla and machine. If you add something to make it ultra unique it's gonna rock out.

It's looking so great Ashley! I can't wait to see what you will come up with this guy. I wanted to start a gorilla character myself, so I'll definitely check this thread for inspiration. Keep it up!
cool hope you can finish this year :)

Ahhhh, there you are! Glad to see your entry Ashley, and the sculpt is already looking great in it's early state:). Curious to see your concept sketch, as I know it can get dangerous going into 3d without one, but I am sure you would be fine. Can't wait to see the final!

-Ya Ged, I hope I can finish this year too!

Here's my high poly. Starting textures soon, I hope I can finish in time!

dude.. thats freakin tight! I look forward to seeing textures on this bad boy. You start on the low rez yet? and is his left arm larger? or is it how you have your lens set?
Looks cool, liking those arms :)
05-06-2009, 12:31 AM
They just extended the competition, so that should help you make the deadline.
Might I suggest increasing the difference in size between the two arms? Right now it is relatively subtle. More exaggeration could be very cool.
Nice work so far. Looking great!
this is looking very awesome !
Oh damn, that's awesome! Great work, keep it up :)

Damn this is very cool Ashley! I really like your idea for the beauty shot
05-18-2009, 07:46 PM
Very great model, textures, etc...
The beauty shot is very original!!
05-18-2009, 10:48 PM
Love it. Beauty shot is killer. =)
Yeah, nice work, and good presentation.
The textures in the front/back view shots seem quite flat though, it's strange since your highpoly was quite detailed and "deep", maybe it's just the lighting that's washing it out?
Good stuff though!

awesome piece :).. gj!
Haha the screenshot is sooo nice!
