I have this low poly truck I had to do , but for some reason the baked textures on the door are coming out brighter than the rest of the truck and I cannot figure out why. I am using nothing but default lighting when I bake and I am only baking the normals and diffuse channels. This is done using Max 9.

Any ideas as to why this happening

Check the material, and make sure to grab it fresh from the scene.

Is the baked bitmap itself brighter than the others?

Yeah, that what i dont understand, its baking bright but the other bitmaps don't

OK, so do they all use the same material, or does the door use a different material than the rest? Also the bumper looks over-bright. Check the door's original unbaked material.

here is the original rig, I think I may try to just add an omni to the scene and turn it off and see if that will balance it out

Maybe the door geometry is duplicated in place somehow? That can sometimes give an overbright effect, but I've never seen it happen during baking.

Yea I had this problem before where there were 2 faces in 1 face, try deleting one of the faces in the doors to see if theres anything behind them.

OK Well i think this may be a bug in Max, as soon as I introduced an omni in the scene and rendered, the textures look correct

Some textures mothers, are brighter than other textures mothers.

LOL, no don't worry . Their engine doesn't support backface culling, So I have the hideous blue in their to make sure I cant see through anything
