Starting my DWIII thread! So...I've never attempted to draw or illustrate anything before (I've no formal art training whatsoever), but I am a game designer and thought this would be fun, and would be a good way to practice!
So constructive criticism not just on my designs, but on my techniques, etc. will be appreciated!!
Attempt at a pencil concept to follow...

Form: Living Angel
A powerful Invoker of years long past, Adriel has lived a very long life. As a living angel, she ages very slowly and only shows physical signs of a life lead no more than 25 or so year despite being over 120 years old. She has taken all of her life researching artifacts and their effects on angel physiology. Unfortunately, without great mental strain, the effects are devastating, including schizophrenia or death. However, she has learned to harness the power of her artifact with caution and training.
Her weapon was at one time an ancient artifact in the form of a rapier. Now, it only exists as a series of raised tattoos along her entire body. She melted the weapon down and infused it directly into her skin. She has a constant mental block in place to stop an unfortunate case of schizophrenia, or a bad case of DEATH.
Her magical energy type is light/holy, and with strong will, she can form the shape of her original rapier using light magic, creating a powerful and holy enhanced blade. It is blinding to look at and in conjunction with the proper spells or incantations is a very deadly force.
The side-effect of this weapon is that part of her life force is infused into the weapon upon it's creation. There are only 2 ways for it to be vanquished: one is to engulf it in void/dark magic until it fails to exists, which will kill Adriel. The other is to return it to her body through a very painful impalement, and a re-energization of the original metal.

I threw together this for fun to experiment. This is her when she materializes her sword. It irradiates a blue glow, and her metal tattoos glow. I've decided that when the sword is not materialized, you can't see the tattoos. Anyway...
