I like the 1st and 4th one
02-17-2008, 07:55 PM
gotta agree, 1 and 4 for me too.
I'm looking forward to what you do!

I tryed to get more innovative with these:
7 looks cool, very unique.
02-19-2008, 08:04 AM
yeah, 7 is most interesting imo from that batch.. why not try a few variations on that one

Some more thumbs:
I think i will go in a egypt style warlord direction.
Divide By Zer0

I personally like the last one you got going on there. And if your going for a egyptianesque theme you might wanna try putting in some anubis pieces/hints. Don't make it just anubis, original but with subtle hints.
id try the 3rd one with the face of the 1st one. Egyptian is definately the way to go. Go go go /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I made a quick muddy concept in Zbrush, its an egypt style Warlord:

Those some beefy awesome proportions. Looks like he could take a cannonball to the face and smile.
03-01-2008, 12:07 PM
maybe the feets a tad smaler
03-01-2008, 12:53 PM
yeah and maybe some subtle asymmetry to the design would be nice, looking good tho!

I made 2 more, concepting in zbrush is a lot of fun /images/graemlins/smile.gif
Please let me know which of the 3 characters or which parts you like the most.

Im working on the actual concept:
I plan to do a detail and color pass in Photoshop, by overpainting it, once im happy with the sculpture concept pass.
He will most likely get a big axe as a weapon, the big shoulder pad will be used as a shield while he is swinging/ strike out the weapon, it can expand when he puts his arm down.
I dont know yet which type of artifact he will use but i think i will incorporate it in the weapon.
I'd defintely work on the edges a bit more, right now he is looking kinda like a toy, because averything is so smooth, you could work more on the balance between hard edge and smooth surface. And is he going to use firearms? cause right now he wouldn't be able to handle a close combat weapon with those fat shoulderpads. But i like the idea, could get pretty cool.

looks REALLY blobby , i guess you can call it style but its something i see alot in your work.
Give it more definition. if you remove the cavity option in zbrush youll see that things dont seem that "clean".
Will you do a model pass ? or will you use this for normal bake ?
03-04-2008, 08:24 AM
I know that its very very blobby, its just the concept wip i sculpted in zbrush from a simple base! I played a lot with the forms and didnt cared about it being clean. Its a lot of work making hard clean surfaces in Zbrush, so i will try to make the most of the hard edges in the Photoshop overpaint.
For the actual model i will do all the hard surface modeling in max.
I thought about a close combat weapon that he use with one hand, you may right with the shoulder pads being too big. I will make the shoulderpad at his weapon arm smaller so he can better swing his weapon but still use the other shoulder pad as a shield.

Awesome, he looks straight out of Megaman!
03-04-2008, 02:30 PM
Looking good. I've been watching stargate and this guy reminded me of the Jaffa. Nice stuff.
03-04-2008, 02:44 PM
I totally love this, great proportions.. cant wait to see the progress /images/graemlins/smile.gif
03-04-2008, 02:56 PM
would be curious to see him with a bit smaller feet as someone suggested.. i think currently they remind me of big comedy slippers
other than that though, thumbs up!
03-06-2008, 06:16 AM
Hey, looking very good.
Very curious about his weapon. Maybe something egyption? Anyway, keep it up!
03-06-2008, 08:04 AM
More work on the concept sculpt, i also made the edges harder and the feet smaller.
Next step will be putting a screen of it in PS and making some color and details with overpainting it. For the weapon i will try to come up with something egyption but also unique looking.
I hope im allowed to use my Greentooth snake instead of the normal logo.
I really like how you incorporated the snake designs all over.Good job...I'll be looking forward to seeing how it all turns out.
03-06-2008, 12:58 PM
really solid feeling, nice one man
03-07-2008, 12:05 PM
Looks WoW-ish with his short proportions and big-thick-toy-like armor. The sculpt is very nice. Maybe think of a snake weapon he can use instead of a generic sword or axe. I'd do some more iterations of his weapon. Great job so far /images/graemlins/smile.gif
03-08-2008, 10:54 AM
o.O nice sculpt!
03-09-2008, 12:12 PM
Colored Concept with some detailing:
Are they really that generic? But incoporating a snake in a weapon is a good idea.
03-09-2008, 03:55 PM
Cool theme you got here!
Pretty nice color concept, the sculpt looking very nice.
It's going to be really interesting model!

I moved to a new home and had not much time working on it but i started with the high poly modeling on some of the hard surface parts:
I learned Polyboost in the process and i can only recommend it, it has a lot of great functions i dont want to miss anymore.
I dont think that i will make it in time but i will keep working on this project anyway.
Yeah Polyboost is awesome.
