Very nice Super, has a traditional sculpting pose quality to it. However the arms don't seem like they're really resting on one another, and his belly and groin look like they're melting off of him, I think you need to raise that area up a bit.

karera:: this is looking really nice, I know its a bit to ask but is it possible to see this guy with a flat gray material of some sort on him, it seems your adding in alot of details (pores and such?) but due to the coloring your doing right now its kinda getting washed out so I cant give a full critique
his leg/ foot from the side view look a bit unusual, hair is another area cant tell it looks like a flat black , but looking good so far!

Haven't really started with the foot or fixing the hands yet, i usually start messing with nails and such when i reach higher subdiv levels.
I can agree with u that it's hard to see all the details. I will look into a more promising material right now, thanks for the nice words!

Thanks man, i was just thinking about flattening out the cheeks a bit, kept it so long because i thought it added character. but it's simply not realistic if you compare to other sumos faces, it's very sleek and round. So thats gotta go, thanks for letting me realize it :D
Nice rocket man, i love the cavity effect on the material, makes it look comic style :D

Nice work as always vivi, but the first pic seems like the map could use some cooler colors in it, as it's coming off as a bit too orangey.
Working on a revamp of Xaero from q3, stuck to the original design for the most part, but redesigned the robotic arm thing because the low poly model part was a bit confusing to look at, so I went with a more simple streamlined design rather than going for the technlogical clusterfuck look.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/Neo_God/XaeroWIP.jpg
I will be redoing the claw part, looks way too flimsy.
Nice work, Generalvivi! Very cool.

Nice mesh, is there a reason for the odd arm pose? I've seen similar ones cropping up from the dudes at/worked with 8 Monkey Labs but I'm still not sure what it improves.
It makes sense to use a pose like that, since its much closer to the pose the models will be in game (holding a gun, animated.) How many times have you seen a character strike a T pose during a game? :)

Will move on to the lowpoly now
Farfarer
09-03-2008, 10:35 AM
Yeah, I get that much, I tend to go for a sort of relaxed T-pose usually as it's more natural than a full-on Jesus Christer.
It was the wrist joint being parallel to the elbow joint (with the palm running flush with the flat of the inner forearm) that confused me. In most common poses, they'd be closer to being opposing, with the forearm providing a near 90 degree twist - which seems counter to the "similar to most common poses" thing.

Holy crap balls, Maltuna! Make a thread for this so you can show us all kinds of angles, wires and textures! That is bangin'!
B1ll - Awesome as usual. :)
Johny, that mesh looks pretty...strange. Proportions are off a fair bit - short arms, weird shaped torso, legs bending oddly. Also you seem to have tons of extra loops around the elbow, forearm and lower leg for no real reason.

Havok (http://boards.polycount.net/member.php?u=19307), press the good ole cntrl-alt-delete and check the task manager to see whats eating up your comps resources. are you running in software or hardware mode?
I am using hardware mode, it wont even let me select software mode. I think it is all of Vista's useless services that are running for no apparent reason. I am not sure which ones are safe to disable though.

I haven't created anything in 3D for a long while. So I'm trying to get back into the swing of things by doing some simple weapon modeling. It's been harder than I thought it would, having to learn some new things plus relearn some stuff I had forgotten.
Anyway, I was inspired by some of the weapon concepts for Warhammer Online and decided to come up with something of my own. This is just the high poly version for now. I plan on unwrapping the low poly version in the next couple of days.

Something new from me. Some future speed racer chick thing . Still a lot to do, hands look terrible so far, ankles look odd too, suit is just a plain mesh so far, will add cloth details now and just notice the neck looks too long. Anyway, it was a good excuse to model some Onitsuka Tiger shoes (I have shoes as one of the hardest things to model):
http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/5034/18376260fn4.jpg
Those proportions are really weird, Vitor. And not in a "cool, stylized weird" kind of way. It just looks like she's some sort of poor disfigured person. The arms are incredibly thin, the legs are posed in a very uncomfortable looking way, the head size and proportions are strange too.
Generally feels very wobbly, it's like she has no bones or something.

i'd like to see a bit of subtly applied to the musculature. add some fat to that body, smooth out the anatomical definitions in his torso.
throat is too thin, and the sternocleidomastoids [i think that's what they're called!] look wrong, they shouldn't bow away from each other towards the clavicles like you have them. the trapezius shouldn't be so abrupt, like a wall of muscle. head is too large and the penis is underdeveloped!

Pretty big windows man, in comparison to the stairs, but that might be a design thing (make sure to make that obvious with textures if thats the case.)
Id like to see a little more design on the buildings forms but thats a secondary thing really, texture job could scream 40's/50's just as good.
Erm technically I just wonder why so many quads on that stair case? I'd definitely seek to optimise that
Oh and helpful hint that I learnt off here - the rise of a step is normally smaller than the tread, it makes stairs easier to climb (but of course you can get some horrendously steep staircases too.)
Keep it up though man! interested in where this building will go, its not a sci fi concept ^__^

Other characters include Pirate Walrus, Knight Bear and Catfish Samurai.

that's brilliant Tacit, love that knurly anatomy and the head is ace, he kind of reminds me of the shiftlett bros work
thanks for the feedback and comments guys
almighty-gir - a lot of barlowe's inferno characters have these odd jutting/shifting bones on their faces, i guess that's what i was thinking there. Might look better with a web of petrified muscle fiber over it though

Only uses a diffuse & a normal texture right now. Little bit of extraneous stuff to fix.
Going to look into a subdermal scatter fake next.

Hey frisco I remember that character man. The Zbrush version looks pretty nice so far. Do you plan on adding a lot of detail for the skin?

The back caves in too much, the armpits and breasts are too low, so is the belly button and she needs more of a waist with less ribcage.
Right now, with the proportions you've chosen, she looks borderline anorexic. If a slim woman is the look you are going for then google up some runway models, you'll find plenty of reference.
Here are 2 to start you off, along the same lines as what you have going already:

http://lauriekendrick.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/skinny-woman.jpg
and Vahl, I hardly think there can be too much manmeat on one page, though some breasts would definitely be nice... I toss in my vote for a Tranni model! ;)

all flat surfaces lack normal and spec pass and scale polish
and fences lack variation atm
dont know why I posted this as you can't crit the lighting with it so exagerated. Things at late night always seemed like a better idea.

Good anatomy, I like the body, althogh the face is nicely modeled it doesn't suit the body. The face looks like it's from a laid back creature and the body looks like a monkey like dynamic creature. Make the face more aware & stream-lined - Narrowing the foreehead would help.
Finish the hands & feet, then you'll have a winner.
PreaceOut.

Good anatomy again, though also the head doesn't match the body. His face looks old yet has a body of 20-30 year old.
It's mainly due to the jaw line.
Wonderfully modeled hands.

Great face, like his brow lines. Nice ear too.
It looks like u use a sharp head brush instead of the normal round brush to avoid blobby results?
Crit:
The neck is to thick in the profile view. Mainly the neck is to close to the chin
Vitor - looking slightly overstylised I feel . A great female in her own right but trying to lever her in to a different style somehow

Thanks for the help everyone. Rens I'll try to improve the body, thou there are couple spots that I don't agree completely, but that doesn't mean your are not correct :D The critics on the face those are spot on really. There was something odd on the face since the first update, and I think you nailed it pretty much.
