Here is a new little low poly character i made this weekend. The ps3 game Uncharted is great and inspired me to do this little guy. Any comments or crits welcome.

Welcome Edgrrr, great first post! Everything looks good to me, the model is built well and the skinmap was laid out well, you even managed to get the gun in there! impressive. The only thing could be maybe some added light source directly onto the texture, with more contrast like under the arm pits and around the crotch.

Thanks. I spend my days at work doing high poly normal map stuff. So i'm not very used to adding in alot of ambient shading into my texture work. Good idea though. I'll post some more when i'm rigged it and tweaked the texture a bit.

Aren't the holster pockets upside-down?
corv: actually no.. they are used for ammo clips. you quickly unsnap them and let gravity to the work to get them out. much faster than having them the other way around.

The gun is very small in your render but it got as much texture UV space as the face. I'd probably scale it down a bit to give the face more room.

looks pretty good, though I'm not digging the face.

maybe the gun 'in' the holster is backwards? It seems like it would be hard to pull out that way.

he looks a little peeky, maybe one too many white russians at new year?
also the fingers are shaded with black this doesnt look natural or acurate, shade to a darker and slightly redder shade of skin tone

yeah, i think you should push the contrasts on the overall model, also use more colors on the skin, he is too pasty right now and his expression doesnt help , i would give it more uvw space man right now you will have lots of distortion /images/graemlins/frown.gif keep it up !

Do you take back all those nasty things you said about polycount at work then!?
Haha, I just noticed the dilation around the edges. Things are finally getting through, good stuff.

I changed the gun around and modded texture a bit.

looking very cool! the hairline doesn't have that nice manly shape you usually see, and is a little low. maybe make it more like this: http://www.linesandcolors.com/images/2005-11/loomis_450.jpg

Ok i changed some more stuff about the face. Thanks for all the help. I improved the texture a bit and i think i moved the features around to look more natural. I also tried to improve the hair. There isnt' much texture space for hair texture but i did improve the hairline.
Tomorrow at work i'll take a break from work 3ding and rig this guy up. Hopefully soon i'll have some poses.
