View Full Version : Ambient map rendering problem..

Ok I feel like a right prat at the minute, i cant for the life of me get an AO map to render in Max 9. It just pops out blank.

Its for a simple 1k triangle object that I have already UNWrapped I can render all the other maps fine it seems though.

Using the MR render engine, any ideas whats up?

I use the default scanline renderer and a skylight to render my AO maps. Works fine for me. Perhaps you can try that for now (I know it's more of a work around than actually solving your problem /images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Yeah Erik! Il try your method, and Eric im just rendering the low poly there is no high poly but Il remmber that for when I do a normal map thingy cheers both of you /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Are you applying the Mental Ray AO shader to the "refection" slot? Then add a sky light and see what happens. Also make sure you're UV pieces aren't set off to the side but are actually in the live area. Do you have any overlapping UV pieces?
