Hey, just wondering if anyone else is going to be heading to PAX this year? If so we ought to meet up. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I work this weekend, but I'm planning on being there as much as I possibly can. It will most likely be in the evenings from 6:00pm to 2 or 3am...
We should definitely meet up some place, possibly grab a bite to eat some place too.

I'm all over this thing. My friends and I will be wandering around everywhere, no real schedule, just having a blast. So I'll be down for a meetup, just say when and where.

Hah, not a whole lot of us goin then eh? Well I don't know much about what's happenin at PAX or what's in Seattle, so just say where and when and I should be able to make it. We're heading down on friday and staying through to Sunday.

I will be a volunteer at the PC Freeplay. I have volunteered at the last two, and a regular at the first. I will going down tommorrow early to help setup.
I will be working the 9:00PM-3:00AM shift at it Fri and Sat,. If your there that late stop by. /images/graemlins/smile.gif If you want to meet earlier, I can't do anything before 6:00PM on Sat since I will be at work.
I might bring a change of clothes and set up base at work since they have a shower and a nice comfy couch and like only 3 blocks away.

Well, I'll probably stop by the freeplay at some point and see ya there oXY, but seeing as you've been there a few times before, where's a good place to meet up after 6:00 or saturday? /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I havent been to this location, they moved PAX this year. I work around here, but dont hang out since its the more expensive side of town. It may be possible to meet up where the conceptart.org group meets (or at least to) on Saturdays at Cafe Vitas and sketches a few hours. Its basically about a mile up the street on capital hill from the convention center.
..Im writing from a PC Freeplay..

That sounds good to me. I'm writing from a PC Freeplay right now as well. How will I find ya here if I come after 9:00 tonight?
08-25-2007, 10:21 AM
I will be one of the people at Freeplay escorting you back to a computer or getting your name in. After 9:00PM I will be volunteering, but I wont get off (realworld) work here till 6.
I could come after work and hang around the freeplay area. I will be wearing a old 3d max icon long sleeve grey shirt when not in the PAX Enforcer shirt.
BTW Other than the alienwares, the first row (A n B) have 8800 geforces in them for the most part.

I realy didn't see anything that wowed me in any way. It was interesting to see how much bigger it have gotten sense the first year. Maybe now with the lack of E3 as a gamers conference PAX will take its place. Id rather have something like that up here than down in LA.
For me PAX is more of a dirty geekathon than a game conference. I didn't say long because well its not my thing and my wife was getting way too many drooling looks... Really wasn't much shown there that wasn't already online. Maybe when E for everyone fails PAX will get some exclusive content.

Bitches! None of you bothered to intro yourselves. Why are PC people soooo anti-social? Time to get out some can of whoop ass.. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
TGZ, behind the scenes is more fun than in front for PAX for me at least. I agree with you after going through the expo hall. The only good thing was that Tell Tale Games was there (my heroes <3 ), and they were stuck in a one man booth in the back row.

Damnit all! Sorry man, I tried to get over there, but I had to go to the concert at that time, and we were all really tired and ended up having to leave to sleep (The drive down was teh sucks!). Yea, next time we do this I say we exchange cell phone numbers, cause I was really looking forward to meeting some polycounters. Sorry again man.
As for the rest...TGZ, you missed the good stuff if you just went to the exhibition hall. Some of the events and stuff were gold. Concerts were amazing, Omegathon was tonnes of fun, some of the presentations were great, etc... Not to mention all the freeplay stuff was fun. I went with one of the guys from work and our girlfriends, all four of us loved it. Though, as you said, it was more of a geek/gamer culture convention than a games business convention, so I can see where you may not like it if you aren't into that stuff.
Though for exclusive content - Halo 3 multiplayer maps + weapons first ever seen (with live demo via omegathon, looked awesome), Rockband demos and stage events, Mass Effect presentation, Assassin's Creed presentation, etc... Not all of it was new (Some was from E3), but there was some good content there.
Some of the exibition stuff was cool as well. Rock Band owned the show floor for a good portion of it (the lines were pretty damn big, was worth the wait though). Some other great game demos and fun stuff. Plus I wont a 1TB harddrive. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Anyways, just my take on the whole thing. Was a hell of a lot of fun. Hope to go back again next year, when it will apparently be expanded more. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I had fun. The exhibition hall was neat, but thats only cause I got to pre-order myself some sweet Astro headphones... Tulkamir has it right in that the Penny-Arcade panels, Frag Dolls, Concerts, and Omegathon tourneys were where it was at.
Sorry I didn't stop by Oxy, All the games in the PC free play weren't so attractive to the group of people I was with.

I never had time to check the forum after I took off for PAX (stayed at a friend's house).
We'll have to exchange numbers next time for sure. But we can always meet any other time too, those of us in Seattle. PM me and we'll exchange numbers and we can eventually meetup at a bar or something. There are tons of other non-game events too of course :P
PAX isn't about the industry as has been said already--it's about the community. If you don't want to play with others and just want to see "new stuff"... yeah, PAX ain't for you. I had a blast and can't wait until next time.
