I really think we should have some more 'creative' shows like the japanese, instead of more bloody Top Idol programs. They might be weird at times, but darn, they can be entertaining. ;) Of course, it just is more funny because its japanese, having us doing it wouldn't be as fun I think.

I think its entirely consistent with the movie though - taking something that people loved and needlessly distorting it through modern tropes into something twisted and awful. I do enjoy how awkwardly it segues in and out of the Linking Park rapping bits.

I certainly get the sentiment but honestly trying to watch old episodes of Transformers these days is pretty excruciating. Especially if the Dino-bots are involved.

^LOL. Ha, that's not Linkin Park in that video though. He does have this version without the rapping. And ugh, watching Stan Bush sing in either video just makes the song much worse.

In other words, if you tally up everything that happens between the time the ball is snapped and the play is whistled dead by the officials, there's barely enough time to prepare a hard-boiled egg. In fact, the average telecast devotes 56% more time to showing replays.

You can't simply assume that because the ball is not in "play" that nothing is happening. There are 60 minutes of game clock each game, and how you use that limited time play-by-play and inch-by-inch is the exciting part.

I still don't understand why folks from other countries seek to demote the sport. You end up just sounding like an arrogant American claiming that his version of football is "better". See how lame that sounds?

Just because you have a lot of content doesn't mean your portfolio is any good. Less, great content is better than a lot of crappy content.

So, that being said;

I'd rather watch 11 minutes of action packed plays than 60 minutes of guys kicking a ball back and fourth and scoring every so often when the stars align.

When I subscribed to the old technology of television. Football and such sports were always boring compared to shooting people with rockets in Quake. I just don't get as much enjoyment from watching sports. Or watching anything really.

When I listen to music I tend to pause it over and over again. So a five minute song lasts 22 minutes on average.

MadnessImport: There should be two modes, pen mode and mouse mode. Pen mode is what most normal sane people prefer. Some weirdoes use mouse mode for everything though. If it feels wrong, then you're probably in the wrong mode.

After about 4 hours of playing/Surfing with this in Pen mode I feel free, like my whole screen is now under my hand! and my wrist no longer hurts. And no more smashing my hand into the side of the table using the mouse

It felt weird because i forgot to install the wacom lol drivers and it was treating the inputs as if it were a Mouse

Quite glad I got this over Mass Effect 3

That explains why there are people who ask when the dome will be deployed, when it starts raining. I've never heard someone say this myself, but Disney employees have stated this as a number one "wtf" they've heard.

"When a storms coming, there is no quick way down." Well, there is and its quick, but not safely. :) For some reason, this makes me shake more then with parachuting, something about being high up, but still 'attached' to the ground makes the height seem more scary.

It's diverging a long way from the original source and Arnie movie, but that's could be a good thing. Apparently Mars doesn't feature in this version at all.

They do like that BLARRRP! noise in trailers these days.

I presume the mouse can now triangulate and work out the exact position of whatever makes a noise, sort of like a GPS system.

Because frankly, it's not going to be able to hunt anything normally with an ear the size of it's body on its back.

If Mars isn't featured then it's much closer to the original short story(if you haven't already you should read it, it's not very long). I like the old total recall movie but I can't say that it's as good as it can be. I'm not a big fan of Farrell but I think he can do a better job than Arnold when it comes to creating believable characters(unless it's a emotionless robot of course), and Farrell fits the description of Quail, the short story protagonist, better.
Also, the city scene at the beginning is just amazing!

The original story is still about being implanted with memories of going to mars, isn't it? Has been a long, long time since I read it. I read that the new one is striking out even further from the original than the Arnie one, involving an elevator that runs from one side of the world to the other. It does still seem to have a lot of the same characters, or at least characters with the same names, so it should be interesting to see how they pull it all together.

In the short story they try to implant memories into Quail's head but they find out that the stuff they try to put in is already in there. He discusses the "problem" with the people at recall and never leaves for an adventure on Mars. Instead, Recall tries to fix this problem by replacing the memories with new ones but the same problem happens again, the new memories are already there. It's more of a paranoid psychological drama in true Philip K Dick style and doesn't involve much action. The old Arnold movie has this ambiguity though.
If this movie is more true to the original story isn't very important to me, I just hope it's not a dumb action movie and that the end product looks as good as in the trailer.
