I always have reservations when watching this type of thing and its always been a massive joke in the martial arts world.

With a few weeks practice anyone could do this type of thing as long as they have a reasonable amount of hand to eye coordination.

In most of the shots he is using Battons, Bo and Jo staffs or a Bokken but the viewer is fooled into thinking thats its Katana's for some of it because he uses one in the first couple of shots and where he does use a Katana, he is much more reserved and slow.

The funny thing is that when people do have this type of skill they tend not to show it off that much :P

Its the same with your run of the mill "Film" martial artists...most of them are actually very poor technically but have used the same 1-5 techniques for so long they are very good at those and not much else.
It may look cool, but none of it is actually that hard to do.
