hi, i like to know how you guys do terrain model from a height/displace map (not sure if its the correct term), like in milkshape there is a small tool called terrain generator that loads a height map an generates the model, that tool is very simple and limited to load images of 64x64, so which softwares have a tool like that?

It depends on what software you plan on using, what game you are developing for, how much interaction you have with code monkeys and what your poly budget is for enviromental art. Most 3D apps worth their salt have displacement maps, which is a good place to start but can be expensive on the poly budget.
I use 3D Studio Max8 to do my terrain generation. A brief overview of my workflow is listed in this thread (http://boards.polycount.net/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=1&Number=149345&Searchpag e=5&Main=148442&Words=Vig&topic=&Search=true#Post1 49345), you might find it handy. Programs like Vue (http://www.e-onsoftware.com/) look nice but I haven't offically tried them out to see what thier range actually is.
