Does anyone know if there’s a way, in Photoshop, to paint different colors depending on the direction in which the brush is moved?

Specifically, I’d like:

-to paint red when painting a horizontal line
-blue when painting a vertical line

and some interpolated color for the in-between directions.
Thanks very much if anyone has a solution for this!

ugh, we had this discussion last week at work. Not sure how to do this in Photoshop, BUT Paint Shop Pro has a feature called Picture Tubes that would allow this. If you find something for this in Photoshop, let me know!

If you have a wacom tablet that supports rotation you should be able to do this just by setting the 'foreground/background jitter' setting to 'rotation' under 'colour dynamics' in the brush editor.

However I can't test it because I've only got a graphire on this computer.

Something like this sounds like it could be handy for quickly touching up normal maps.
