I might have time for this one, so I chose funk star Eddie Hazel, Funkadelic + Parliament guitarist.

My guitar hero will be based on Eddie Hazel, and since I had trouble finding good references of him, especially anything larger than image above, I'll probably end up with something more like this:

Funkadelic isn't my favorite funk band, but I had in mind the afrofuturism and outer space themed jazz and funk mainly, and was thinking of Sun Ra and all the crazy outfits he had, but Sun Ra is all but guitarist.
Anyways, here's the doodle I ended up with:

eddie hazel is one of my favorite guitarists, just for maggot brain. im really looking forward to the final, but i think you need to add his cape and make the hat bigger.

You're right, Mishra, I think he looks better with the cape. I also enlarged his hat a bit. Here's the update:

I'll need to wrap this up by tonight, cause I got no more time to spare. I'm pretty much done with texture, just need to figure out a good pose.

Very nice, but I don't think Eddie is reading the best he could be. He's blending into his cape alittle too much. Maybe a slight drop in value in his cape (the blue part) will help pop him out and emphasize his silhouette better?

Spacey, you're right, I was thinking of changing cape color to break up the silhouette, but didn't find a good combination, so I just did a quick adjustment, I hope it reads a little better now:
