View Full Version : Render to texture crashes at 2048?

Im trying to transfer textures to a low poly character from several highpoly assets. Im using max's render to texture but for some reason max crashes if I try to transfer them at 2048. Anyone have any suggestions?

Is it a crash or does it just freeze up? I've had the render take so long sometimes that I was almost certain Max had locked up. In the end, it was just that slow.

lol no its a crash. It must be a lack of memory or ram cause I tried it on my buddy next to me's computer and its rendering out now.

Yeah, I was gonna suggest that if it's a crash it might be low memory. Ask for more. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

You may also be running out of HDD space.

I've done 2048s with max on several occasions... So its likely a problem with your system.
How much memory do you have, and what is your hard drive like with regards to speed and space?

One of our IT guys came by worked some magic and its all good now. Thanks for the replies guys
