anyone else pick this up today? i am having a great time not working and playing it instead. i love all the small touches they put in there, i like the micro mario and how he can run on the surface of the water. i also like the added touch of when you go down a pipe it changes the playing area from the top screen to the bottom one. only beat the first few levels but it feels really nice, very old school. okay back to playing....

played the first level on a coworkers DS....it was very nostalgic... hey arsh...does it branch out ala mario 3 and SNES mario...or is it more linear?

i dont know yet joe i am kind of playing 5 mins here 5 mins there, i havent even got to the final castle of the first level. one thing i have noticed is there are several paths to each level via high road low road, similar to old school sonic. they really nailed the gameplay on this one, i see elements from all the mario games.

Just got it, can't wait to clock some time in tonight.

***Edit: It's a very good, if not a bit too simple of a game. Truly a very pure experience for a video game. The mix of 3d and 2d graphics are quite charming, something Capcom should have pulled off far better with their PSP Ghost and goblins game that's around the corner.

The lack of a save at any time between levels is a huge drag though. It only allows you to save after castles. I'll really be working that suspend mode on my DS for some time now as I usually just play it in short bursts.

Overall, it is easily worth the 27 bucks I dropped on it.

Looks cool, but it came too late for me. Was supposed to be out less than 6 months after the DS launched. It's been what - a year and a half? I already got rid of my DS.

The game is a sweet mix os SM Bros, and SM Bros. 3 (with awesome graphics). While the save thing kind of sucks, You can save at any time by spending coins, and it usually (at least early in the game) only takes me 15 or so minutes to get to the first castle in a given stage.

Vassago: Yes, I remember your story, you're the guy who sold his DS before all the good stuff came out.

about saving, one of the nice thing about the DS is you can just close it. i play at work this way all day, play on my way to the restroom, when i am done close it, play on my smoke break, close it. all i have to do is open it to start right back where i left off. i hardly ever turn my ds power off just when changing games.

It's not my fault they had nothing good for the first year! /images/graemlins/smile.gif
Castlevania was the first great title the DS got (imo), and that wasn't too long ago. Now, there's Mario. Maybe I'll pick up another DS when they drop in price.

when I was in the UK I used to get all my DS games on ebay because of the Euro launch dates :/

the delay is because they have to translate it into german
