I put together a torso then went to work on the head, after about a dozen saves I go back to the torso only to find it mysteriously flattened into a plane. I go crawling back in the auto backups and I find only one with the torso intact, the one before I started any work on the face, sure I could have exported the head but I didn't want to take the chance something would go wrong, my lucks only slightly better than yours after all.
no pint thinking about it mate. I lost all my hard drives recently , but shit happens:)

Thats not bad luck. Thats you learning to always do incremental saves.

Real applications automatically keep a number of older saves even when you don't explicitely tell them to increase the incremental number.

Right. Because as we all know Photoshop is not a "real" application.
I do think photoshop, heck nearly all graphics apps, need that little "+" button from max. So helpful.

Yep. Sometimes I get the feeling that Photoshop lacks many standard features simply because it doesn't have any direct competition that could sink it with one superior product. I mean, look at how long it took them to add something as basic as customizable hotkeys.

Cheap: CTRL-Z?
Nah, once you've left edit mode like that you loose the data unless you've keyframed the pose.

Cheap- if you are just posing for renders instead of animating, maybe turning on an autokey (I have no idea if Blender has one) would be helpful? I hate losing good poses.

If he wasn't animating them he wouldn't need keyframes. Though I still wonder how you accidentally hit tab. Is your reflex for "leave pose mode" miswired to tab instead of ctrl-tab?

His neighbour has a crowbar. Locks won't stop him from borrowing the TV twice a week.
