Concept work by Matt Kohr. Modelling and texturing will be by me.

We decided to distill the roll of a general into its most basic elements: To observe the battlefield, form decisions, and communicate those decisions to troops. The result is this giant brain slug observer.
The current plan is to add a swarm of small creatures that this general uses for attack/defense.

Color is not final:

Very cool. You have just under 9 days to model and texture this before the deadline - better get moving! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I look forward to seeing this in 3d! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

What's worse is I won't be getting a start on it until tuesday /images/graemlins/frown.gif Oh, and I will be trying out ZBrush for the first time for the normal map.

Are you the same Mop I used to know from the darkbasic forums years ago?

I don't think so, I've never used Darkbasic /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

oh slug-chan :3

it's one of the most visually arresting concepts i've seen for the competition, though i think some additional element to bring one of the eyes into relief among the others might be nice, since right now the mass of eyes has no single focal point (for us, I mean). if that big eye in the center had a different color iris, for instance. other than that, i think it's got a lot of great potential, especially with a good and slimey spec/normal map in action /images/graemlins/smile.gif
