Position Information
Title - Environment Material/Texture Artist
Type - contract position
Starts - immediately
Duration - 6+ Months, with opportunities for future contracts. To begin on this project, we require a minimum of 30 hours per week of availability.
Compensation - competitive, depending on experience
About This Position
Many environment assets will be created with textures and materials for next generation game titles. This position requires expert-level experience from either the film or game industry in developing image maps and shaders that utlilize them. Those with offline render experience but little experience with normal maps are still encouraged to apply as the technology has many close analogies to established offline render techniques such as displacment and bump mapping.
Requirements:
• experience creating multiple maps (i.e. normal, specular, diffuse, effects) and combining them in a shader material
• expert level skills in Photoshop
• 3D Studio Max 7
Desired Skills and Pluses:
• high level of proficiency generating and combining normal maps from multiple sources - high poly 3d geometry, converting height maps, photo manipulation, etc.
• game industry experience
• at least one shipped title
• familiarity with Unreal technology art pipeline
• BFA in Painting/3D art or similar background
For this position your portfolio must include:
• UV layouts with texture sheets
• screens of material applied to model
• portfolio plus: 3D model rotation to show off material properties
