Ok. I got a free Nintendo DS setup for the winner of a little challenge.... seriously.

Prize: http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=B020252D

Some friends and I are putting together a small game company in our off hours to make some cash. We need a logo. The best logo design of our choosing will win. Here are the details:

1. Deadline is Friday 9/9 at Noon (PST), winner to be announced by 9/12.

2. The logo needs to have the words: "Primate Games" in it.

3. The logo needs to have a simian in it (ape, chimp, monkey, whatever...)

4. The logo needs to show the simian doing something.

5. To actually win the prize the winner must sign a release and return it (snail mailed to them) stating that the work is original and that they are giving/selling all rights in it to "Primate Games". Rights to any losing entries revert back to the submitters. The final image will be "purchased" from the winner in the form of a scalable Photoshop file.

6. All entries need to be in .jpg format and posted in this thread FOLLOWING THE RULES FOR POSTING AS STATED BY POLYCOUNT.

7. The style is mostly open, just don't submit anything that is offensive or not fit for printing...

8. If you're outside of the U.S. in a location where it's difficult/expensive/prohibited to ship you the reward, we reserve the right to send the equivalent value of $260 in cash/check.

9. If you don't want the DS bundle (which I wish I had...) you can simply opt for the $260 hard.

So, yeah. "Monkey games kinda' logo..."

Can't wait to see them!!

Yeah, this does sound pretty cool

Here's my submission:

(Color can be easily added if wanted)

Edit*

Did some slight tweaking to it.

Oh, and it's about 1000x1500 at 300 dpi so sizing shouldn't be too much of an issue.

If you want any changes, those can still be done if my image gets chosen. It's all in vectors (meaning you can print it as large as you want without losing clarity and without seeing pixels), and hopefully looks good both small and large /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Last minute! Not as polished as I'd like, but it gets the concept across.

when you say "scalable photoshop file" are you simply after a print-res bitmap big enough to scale down to what you need, or do you want vectors (more commonly done in Illustrator) so you can literally go as big or small as you like?

Okay, I believe it's time to announce a winner... isn't it?

Come on, guys, we all busted ass to get these designs up for ya, so we'd appreciate a timely decision. Thanks!

Thanks MoP, JBoskma for your comments, especially appreciated considering you are both very talented artists.

I have to agree with Jzero. Pick one or pick none (although you should have left an out for youselves in the informal contract you posted here). I have to mention that not abiding by the terms of your own "contest" dosen't look good when you are looking for people to work for you, which I assume is the same primate games mentioned in this thread..

"Who is looking for freelance work right now?
Im looking at hiring on a freelance artist for a contracted project for roughly a month or 2 starting October and curious whos lounging around their house looking for a gig in the Seattle/Renton area.

Also I am looking at bringing on an unpaid intern or two for work experience also if you happen to be a student wanting some portfolio and/or career building work.

If you are in the Seattle area, the positions are on-site, otherwise we are open to remote candidates.

Shoot me your portfolio/samples/resume.
jerryp(at)primategames(d-o-t)com

Serious inquiries only.

Please move this to the paid forum if this is inappropiate, but it would seem no one pays any attention to paid jobs unless its blizzard or EA lately."

The logo contest and the actual freelance position are completely separate entities. Both of which are closed. We posted this contest on multiple forums and the winner was actually choosen from Something Awful.com

http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1659897

The contest has ended anyhow and we have a winner. I'll have Mr. Herotop post the winner here shortly.

And before you all start screaming bloody murder about not mentioning other forums he posted into, the internet is a big place and as such it was to be expected.

Well it still would have been nice to know that this contest was being placed on multiple forums...

Oh well, the logo that won, was very deserving.

Thanks guys, I think most of us were just looking for an answer for closure's sake.

Great entries on both forums, good luck with your venture.

Arg... so damn busy. Sorry Polykids, posting a closing message was in my queue but other stuff kept coming up and it fell off the edge of the world.

So, yeah. The contest is over and it was BY NO MEANS easy to choose a winner. We did post it on multiple forums and wound up picking one from SomethingAwful.com

This was not easy.

Personaly I like Neo_God's post and Jdingles. But in the end we went with a modified version of this guy:

http://www.primategames.com/logos/primate2oz.jpg

If you want to see all the entries, feel free to look at them:

www.primategames.com/logos.html (http://www.primategames.com/logos.html)

Everything in here was great and very inspiring, some to the point of creating discussion among Priamte Games about having multiple logos, but who knows...we got to get a damn game out the door first.

At anyrate, thanks soooo much for the awesome art work!
