"incidentally, my name is ----- and i'm one of the pupils of the school that committed suicide"

Not from a movie. Get this one first go, y'bolloxes

Is it from the new Nick Hornby suicide book?

danr

nope - it's not recent, and it's far more happy

no-one?

the school really did top itself. It got depressed. The smell of ... *aha* something ... got it down. If you never came across the actual event in the form it took, you could probably take an educated guess ...

if you're well behaved, i'll clue you in to what the smell was

see this is what happens, you want to make a quote that someone can get, but not right off. its tricky

Uh.... Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkhaban? (or however it is spelled...)

Hrm...but that is also a movie. Oh well, my guess still stands.

how many things feature a schoolchild called Sally and a school that was ever likely to kill itself?

MoP
05-04-2005, 06:32 AM
dan, quite so, but how many people also know about this? :P

danr

you don't have to know the specific events, you can make an educated guess on what the quote is from based on the information provided. C'mon, play the game.

And if the info means nothing to you, then you probably haven't lived, and this is not my fault

There's a Sally, a school and a suicide in the Catcher in the Rye. Don't remember anything smelly in it though.

danr

nope, but i'm willing to bet this is influenced by loads of classic novels...

Oh, and the smell was peanut butter.

another character, in a similarly grim episode, drove his teacher to have a nervous breakdown by continually forgetting to bring in some egg-shells to make a diorama.

if i could do an impression of the teacher in text, you'd get it immediately

danr

Snemmy gets it, though there's no "the" in the title. I'm surprised it took so long, only Schulz could have his school commit suicide because "it had been depressed for some time".

your go

I remember the school with problems in Peanuts.
I just don't remember it being a life defining moment for me, but I do remember it /images/graemlins/wink.gif

it's one of my all time favourite concepts (along with Linus driving Miss Othmar mad through eggshells, as detailed above) ... yep, true genius of our time and no mistake
