I got a lifetime subscription to secondlife (http://www.secondlife.com) back in the day ( I was in the beta for a while) and eventually got bored and stopped playing. Since it was a lifetime subscription my character just sat there and earned his weekly stipend for about 3 years.
I read an article about people selling there lindenbucks on the open gaming market (http://www.gamingopenmarket.com/index.php) so I figured I'd give it a try. I am now $399 richer!! While I know some people are making mega bucks in second life, I didn't have to work for it, so I'm pretty happy.
