We just got back from a wee trip to Venice, and the art was supreme.

The Doge palace has some of the largest most sumpteous canvases.

Accademia Gallery

The Accademia: Venice's greatest art gallery, housing superb collection of Venetian painting spanning over five centuries. It was all very samey after a while - Nearly all venetian and nearly all religeous, but still STUNNING.

This is an AWFUL photo, but this painting is worth the entrance cost alone:

The museum of modern art had great stuff by Matisse, Klimt, and on the stairs it had "the Thinker" by Rodin.

And finally, a trip to Peggy Guggenheims house with persoanl collection and museum:

The entrance has 2 Picassos facing each over through a Calder mobile. The cornell boxes were stunning, as was the Pollack collection, the Kandinsky's, Bacon...Moore....

What an excellent trip for you, man and a rich, rich experience! A friend of mine is going to Italy for his honeymoon. They're seeing, Venice, Rome, Sicily and Florence. I am so jealous of you guys. He's Italian and has family there so he can see it from a local prespecetive. Ciao /images/graemlins/smile.gif
