i know, 1632 polygons is alot for such a simple character, but hey, he's my first wings 3d model. The only reason he's on the
milkshape 3d backround is because i like the texturing sytem in that better, so i just used it for texturing. Also, he has a skeleton and all, and that'a another reason for milkshape. He would be rendered in pov-ray, if i could figure that friggin' thing out. crits/comments welcome, i'm here to learn, so help would be 'precciated.

Other than the high polycount that you had mentioned, i'd suggest not photosourcing the texture, i could see some potential there if you did it from scratch.

Look in the tutorial sticky thread from the old boards. There's a nice link to a UVmapping tutorial for wings. It can do a much better job than MS3d.

It looks like a snail, so that's good. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Like MikeF said, I think it would look a lot better if you painted the texure yourself instead of photosourcing it. I think that doesn't have to be very difficult, since a cartoony skin might work very well.

Maybe 2 geospheres with depht 1 would have been a better choice for the eyes if you wanted a lower polycount.

BTW thry to reduce your images size. its freaking ridiculous for this kind of work.
