..into UT2k3 but make it UT2k4 compatible.

The Character...

The format...
.ase
.max
.fbx
or if worse comes to worse .3ds

Importing it into UT2k3 makes it 2k4 compatible as long as you don't statically link it to the animset or provide it with the few additional anims needed. I could do it but I'd use Milkshape and therefore only rigid vertices, probably messing up the deformation. The only format out of these MS3d takes is 3ds but it's not like it can make use of any features included in the more advanced formats, anyway and welding verts is two key presses.

Somehow I knew you would show up KDR :P

Just give me a thumbs up and I'll email you the files /images/graemlins/smile.gif

As long as you're not bothered by Milkshape's limitations (and that isn't her rigging pose in the render /images/graemlins/tongue.gif), go ahead. I'll have to reinstall UT2003 but that shouldn't take long and importing is my easiest exercise.

Did you recieve the email I sent you KDR?

I hope you were not scared off the the 7-zip .exe /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Nope, nothing on any of my three addys. Which one did you send it to? (only name the provider, don't want spambots to give me even more crap) Try Lycos if you've sent it to Hotmail.

How about this board's PM system /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

KDR_11k

PMs can attach multiple megabytes of files? That's new to me.

*Pwned* heh, But if possible why not just Use MSN IM to ftp the file to KDR_11k? or Some IM you both have that would allow ftp.... /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Well, I can't get ICQ transfers through my NAT...

Seyiji
02-17-2005, 04:28 PM
I used the one in your profile (take that spambots hahahahaha can't get an email thats not there!)

I'll try the PM system......which won't work cause I see no option to attach something :\

Ok I just sent the model to your hotmail account that I found on your webpage hopefully it works.

KDR_11k
02-18-2005, 04:46 AM
Hm, just saw that I got it, I usually check that account with POP3 and that fucking spam filter put it into "spam", which causes POP3 to ignore it. The spam filter is off now, produced only false-positives, anyway.

She is completely symmetrical, right?

KDR_11k
02-18-2005, 07:11 AM
Hm, it'd help if you could expand the UVs a bit to compensate for mipmapping, a nasty, black seam appears in her face ATM.

I had to alter the proportions a bit to make her fit on the skeleton, the fingers cannot be animated because the hand is too large and I don't think I'm allowed to downscale that. Not that animated fingers add a lot anyway, I never rig those for my own models.

And do you perhaps have a portrait (256x512) and a bio (no more than 255 chars) at hand?

Seyiji
02-18-2005, 01:49 PM
I don't have a bio at the moment and I was just going to use this (http://img205.exs.cx/img205/2811/reiport5gz.png) for a temporary portrait until I got a good ingame shot.

Also I didn't make the bulk of the model (just a base from long ago) my friend did he was just too afraid to ask someone to put her ingame so I wouldn't know about the unwrapping /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well, she's definitelly cute. Can't wait to see how KDR_11k
develops this one.

I've got a preliminary version uploaded here (http://mitglied.lycos.de/KDR_11k/files/ppms.htm).

Herr-Maestro
02-19-2005, 11:40 AM
Can these be used as a SDK and if So will either of you allow it?

KDR_11k
02-19-2005, 02:54 PM
Dunno whether that'd work as an SDK though I doubt it. UED doesn't seem to be able to display the UVmap or export the mesh. Third party tools might be able to do that. The model ingame differs slightly from the one Sey sent me because I altered the joints and limb sizes to deform better.
Either way, I'm not including anything unless Sey says it's okay.

Seyiji
02-19-2005, 03:37 PM
You have my permission to do whatever you see fit to make the model better and you can include whatever is neccesary to modify the model.

KDR_11k
02-20-2005, 05:27 AM
I was thinking about giving her a repaint but those UVs are godawful, good luck to anyone willing to skin her...

I'll include a pic of the UVs and an OBJ file with the model next time I upload, got some TCs on her as well.

EDIT: Uploaded!

Question I have since this is model OminaeYu/Seyiji made and is also your lil project as well KDR. Would it be ok to use her in EscOnline UT2k4 as one of the Dancer for thier mod? if so I can assure you full pimps in the credits for The Dancer models and such. She's a cutie and would be a definite welcome addition to the mod as a club dancer. Let me know, I don't want to step on any toes.

I just noticed I was the only one getting credit in the readme when most of the modifying as well as the uv's and texture were done by spider2cool (I just provided the base mesh) so in future releases (if any) could you please add his name as well so he doesn't kill me for not giving him proper credit /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I also would like to apologize to you KDR as there were many other formats (like .obj) that I could have sent the model in that milkshape could read as well as .ms3d. I'm also sorry for any extra work this little fuckup has caused you /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Also is there any way to fix the messed up crotch texture since it seems she has way to much coverage down there.

Herr-Maestro
02-20-2005, 05:35 PM
Well if its ok to use the model sure you, kdr & spider2cool would be given credit for her.

Seyiji
02-20-2005, 06:00 PM
I'll have to ask spider.....I'll edit this post once I get a reply

We have decided that we are not interested in your proposal. Maybe once he gets better he might reconsider.

Acknowledged apperciate that.

KDR_11k
02-21-2005, 10:13 AM
Ah, should've mentioned him! Yeah, I'll put him in the readme. The 3ds format didn't cause any issues, it matches Milkshape's capabilities (No tris? Well, none in MS3d, either) and weld seams is just a two button operation in Milkshape. Guess I should've put her through Blender first since the mesh had some really messy spots I would've cleaned up in Blender. Though I'd have been tempted to redo her UVs and skin /images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

Seyiji
02-21-2005, 03:22 PM
Are you sure you don't just want to take a peek at her in blender just to make sure thing are in proper order *wink wink* I'm sure spider wouldn't mind /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

KDR_11k
02-22-2005, 08:54 AM
Well, I can't move her back and forth without destroying the rigging... But then she wasn't hard to rig so I guess that is still an option.

Seyiji
02-25-2005, 07:14 AM
How are things going KDR I haven't heard from you in 3 days so you must be working hard.....I hope you have not totally forgot about me /images/graemlins/smile.gif

KDR_11k
02-25-2005, 01:23 PM
Real Life (TM) ate some more time than usual and I'm not sure what there is left to do on her.

Seyiji
02-25-2005, 05:58 PM
Have you changed anything since last time?

KDR_11k
02-25-2005, 11:27 PM
Nope. I'm still unsure about involving Blender because of the rigging issue.

Seyiji
02-26-2005, 12:17 AM
Well I'll leave it up to you then if you feel like doing it go right ahead, if you would rather not then thats fine also.

KDR_11k

I'll decide on that later, I'm away the next three days.

KDR_11k has earned the title of "Serial Vertex Killer" [/Tales]

Currently giving her the Blender treatment (god, how that must sound out of context...). She's now at 2156 triangles as opposed to the 2460 she started out with. I don't think her look changed much. There were tons of non-contributing vertices that looked like Spider abused the cut feature of his app or perhaps didn't know how to collapse (or just overlooked). Fixed some triangulation errors as well.

Sounds indeed like you've put in enuff hrs to get a miller! How does she look presently after the rework ? Possible scrnsht?

KDR_11k
03-07-2005, 10:58 PM
Looks the same, I didn't change the textures or any larger details, the differences are only noticeable on a wireframe shot.

03-08-2005, 11:32 PM
Since I'm pretty satisfied with the current version and planning to wrap everything up today, could you give me the contact addresses I should add for Spider and you in the readme?

Seyiji
03-09-2005, 12:05 AM
Mine is seydav@velocity.net
Spider is spider2cool@hotmail.com

That worked out quite nicely as today is my birthday /images/graemlins/smile.gif
