Ha, thanks. But my wife and I are all rooted in here. Like a friend once said, "I don't know why people in our industry buy houses". Definitely makes it harder to relocate. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

We are still looking for the positions listed, so I am going to give this post a bump.

Which location are these for? I noticed on the site you appear to have two studios, one in Chicago and one in Sparks, MD.

Most of the artists are in Chicago, but you can work at whichever location you would like.
Level designers are split between CHI and HV. Again, it would be the applicant's preference.
Thanks for your interest, I'll check with HR and make sure she got your mail.
If you have any more questions, fire away!
How does the company feel about importing? I live in Canada and would really like to apply for the level artist position.

I would go ahead and submit your resume. I'm not sure if we have any biases to "importing" people.
We have people from England who I think we have helped with their visas/work permits. So I don't think we are a stranger to the process.

I'm going to bump. If anyone is going to GDC and wants to talk, just let me know. We are still looking for the above positions. Plus MORE: Animator, 3d Character Artist.
We are looking for the same quality of people on par with the work examples you have seen from Epic.
Before applying or requesting a meeting please read through the job descriptions on our web site:
http://www.day1studios.com/jobs.htm
You can reach me/set up a time to meet by sending a mail with Chris Mielke in the subject header at: jobs@day1studios.com.
Thanks!

Hey Chris,
I'm a Character Modeler trying to break into the industry. I sent my resume into Day 1 Studios a while back but have since updated my site. You can see my work at http://www.ent3d.com. Here is a link to a Normal Mapped model I've been working on: Normal Map (http://www.ent3d.com/normal.htm).
Thanks for checking it out.

Hey Erik, unfortunately I don't look at every resume that comes through. I can pass along your site and if the art director is interested he will be in touch.
Looks like a good start down the right track, just keep it up!

Hey, good to hear from you again.
I see alot more work on your site and you've made progress. We really need people who can do high res modeling and all the bells and whistles associated with it, similar to what Epic is showing (and who they are asking for).
The good thing is that you can look around polycount and get great inspiration from the talented people here.
Please keep at it, you have potential and definitely keep in touch and let me see what you are up to.
