Thought this might be helpful to some. It's a list of game developers and VFX companies that I know about. If you know of any not on the list let me know. I try to keep it fairly up to date.

That's awesome man. You kick mucho ass for putting that together.
We also have Respon Design (http://Respon Design) in Portland, Oregon and Wallace Creative, Inc (http://www.wallyhood.com/).
Thats cool thanks for doing that. Heh EA are conspicous by their absence. So are quite a few others in the bay area If you dont mind me adding.
Pixar in Emeryville ( we can dream ) and ILM over the bridge. Also over the bridge in San Rafael are visual concepts. Oh and Crystal Dynamics ( working on Tomb Raider right now ) and theres a Sony games studio in San Mateo. 989 studios I think. Also Z-axis in the East bay in Hayward ( http://www.z-axis.com/ ) and then theres Scotts co. Castaway entertainment. Im sure there are a few more too so I'l have a think.

Thanks for the response guys. I think I'll add in a section for publishers like EA, Atari, etc., since they have developers in more than one location and usually have their own job finder section for all their developers. I'm finding that some game developer's sites now point directly to their publisher's, or I can't even find a site for the developer, just the publisher, which is a shame. I'd rather know about the developer independantly from the publisher, but I guess once they're bought up they don't have their own identity anymore.
Oops, forgot about some of the biggies, thanks Daz. Isn't ILM moving to the Presidio in San Francisco?

If you have access to php, I could hack up a simple database that anyone could add in companies.
If you don't, and people are interested enough, I could host one. I've got loads of space and bandwidth.

Rick: I have a php bulletin board on my site, so I'm assuming that means I have access, but I don't know that much about it. That does sound cool though.
A little known one here in Seattle is nightlight studios (http://nightlightstudios.com), that's the one where Brom is art director. I don't think they've released any games yet.

Well how 'bout that? I hope these guys don't end up with the same fate as Joe Maderuira's game company. If they don't run out of money, I expect cool things from them.
Added them to list, and sent them a resume. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
Yeah but I think the Presidio move is a long way off.
I forgot about page 44 studios in SF

Also in the Bay area :
