All my textures have been resized to 512x512 so they will fit here ...
The reason i didnt use the spec map in the end was i couldnt get maya to display colour normal and spec in a rendered viewport accurately.

ok, contest is over. Since there are so few, I'm going to gather a group of judges to decide the winner. Great job guys!

I’d like to thank everyone who joined in on this challenge. Even if you didn’t finish I hope you used it as a learning opportunity. Since there were fewer contestants than anticipated I will be awarding prizes to the top 2 spots.
I asked the judges to submit their top three pics. I then awarded a point based system to the choices. 1st was worth 3 points, 2nd worth 2 points, and 3rd worth 1 point. I then added up the results to get our winners.
The results broke down as follows (sorted by judge):
Juan Martinez (monster): Illusions, Fat_Cap, and Neo_god
Jason Sallenbach (Dark Horizon): thermidor, Fat Cap, Illusions
Paul Warzecha: (The_Bird): Illusions, Sectaurs, Fat_Cap
Josh Stubbles (Vasago): Fat_Cap, Illusions, Sectaurs
Brian Jones (BoBo the seal): Neo_God, Illusions, Fat_Cap
Ben Mathews (Poopinmymouth): Illusions, Fat_Cap, Neo God
Point Tally:
Illusions: 12
Fat_Cap: 11
Neo_god: 5
Sectaurs: 3
Thermidor: 3
Illusions took first place with Fat Cap close behind. Congratulations contestants and I hope to see y’all in the next one!

congrats Illusions! yours was a great entry, and its not surprise it took top billing.
was nice to have the oppurtunity to learn normal-maps with the rest of you who participated, misery loves company /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Congrats winners!
Although I have to say the overall standard was impressively high - there is not a bad model among these, they all look great.

/images/graemlins/smile.gif It was nice competing with all of you. Sectaurs, still think that you had one kickass creative idea for an Air elemental....and yes, you're right misery does love company. So you better be there for the next competition as well /images/graemlins/tongue.gif . And Joolz your unicorn eater has to be the most amusing entry out of all of them...and you did crystals! Wondering how you pulled that off so nicely...
And...Snemmy, you modelled an Ice Queen, and I always have a warm spot in my heart for the Ice Queens...
Hopefully we'll see a larger turnout for the next comp, as these things that Bobo puts together seem to be quite educational and challenging. Probably wouldn't have touched a normal map, or even made a highpoly game model for a while. Now...I plan on doing more of them...can't wait for the next learning experience. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

good work everyone , and congrats Illusions and fatcap ..
this challenge got me onto polycount ... i had never posted on a board before that ... and i think ive improved from the great coments and crits ppl have given me ...
normal mapping is great , i think the tool set is lacking on all modeling platforms , i guess its so new its not been implimented into the software we all use in a major way yet /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Damn, I forgot all about this!
It was a great contest, plenty of interesting designs.
Heh, I can always say although I got no prize, I essentially had third place, haha. No Prize? What the hell am I saying! My prize was a great portfolio piece!
Truthfully I cannot wait until next year's contest.

Well, I know we're pretty busy here at work this month (big deadline before the 22nd). Then BoBo is leaving us at the end of the month as well /images/graemlins/frown.gif
