View Full Version : Comic style Female Base
So I finally decided to break down and do a female game character and have decided I will go with the classic T&A style porportions. I have typicaly done male characters and feel very solid in producing them, so my goal with making this female base model is to have a foundation that I can create more models from. For some reason I cant place what is off with the mesh, maybe its that I am not used to looking at this sytle mesh in 3D or maybe its Ive only spent 3-4hrs on her so far... I have been looking at a lot of feng and shiro for refrences, if anyone knows of some other great artist of the same vien I would love linkies /images/graemlins/smile.gif

So far I think the breat look perfect alone(I modeled seprate and then attached) but when attached they look "off" /images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think the main problem with the breasts is that they seem to arc upward. Also they seem to long, and straight foreward almost.

She looks like she cud do some real damage to someone's eyes with those.
I second what Quaggs said, I think the problem is they arc upwards and point forwards at too much of an extreme.

The shape of them doesn't look too far off, but the angle and size of them compared to the rest of the body looks a little too unrealistic (even for comic standards). I'd say shrink them down just a tad, and tilt them down some more. Remember, they're essentially just bags of fat that hang from the rib cage. They normally rest on the area of the chest just below themselves somewhat.
The thighs could use more definition. They don't look bad from the side view, but from the front she doesn't appear to have any hips.
As far as reference, I'd recommend looking for photos instead of illustrations. Drawings, even really good ones, tend to stylize the forms in such a way that they might not work in 3d, even if they look perfect in the pictures. And they can get away with exaggerated proportions that usually look silly when applied to a 3d character.

Damn those are some manly shoulders. You need to bring them in towards the neck more and make them smaller. I'd say lessen the size of the muscles in her upper back as well. Unless you're trying to make her look really bulked up like she's on steroids. And yeah her tits curling upwards looks pretty weird, too.

Yup , proportions, even for comic style they look sorta too out there !
try to base it on real anatomy , buy a anatomy book , look at muscles and bones, and like has already been said , get reference photos...
i would definately make her head biger , feet and shoulders and of course breasts.. smaller ...
eek , this looks like a flame , dont get me wrong , it is a good start .
Those are some god-damn machinegun jubliee's.

I say the breasts are like "Pornorific" but so unrealistc even for a game/demo charater. Could call her the Boob-o-nator? Personallly I'd say drop the breasts down just a tad for a more realistic form for her top. But thats just me....

actually the breasts need to stay the same size they are to fit with the exageration of the rest of the character, right now they actually need to be EVEN BIGGER. the problem is that they are longer than they are around, so they look like torpedo heads. give them a more sphereical shape, and let them "hang" a bit more on the ribcage and they will look fine for this type of character.
shoulders are way too wide however, and a bit too large in the deltoids, give him that "THATS A MAN BABY" feel.
Thanks for all the comments guys, I tried to take all of them in account. I toned down the shoulder and upper arm muscles so they look less manish. Brought out a hint of her hips in normal stance. Scaled down her neck just a bit to give more of a feminine look. Brought her ribcage in slightly to make the breast appear larger for her size. Now onto the breast, Angled them down more and lowered them on the ribcage, scaled them down a tad and gave them more of a spherical nature.

While I want her to look like a female I don't want her to look realistic... Big boobs, round ass, long legs, slender nose etc etc.
Quaggs-noted and changed, tx
Poop-Yea I was almost wondering if they weren't big enough to match the other exaggerations, I will play around with the scaling more and see what she looks like, took into account your other two points ty /images/graemlins/smile.gif

The breasts are looking better. Glad I could help.
You could also make her hips a LOT wider to match the crazy proportions, right now they are slim manly hips /images/graemlins/smile.gif
Wider hips, definitely. A rounder, bigger butt would be good too. Also, girls have cute little feet, not big clod-hoppers.
