Because Black and red looks cooler /images/graemlins/cool.gif
White and red... Just seems more natural.. xP

I immediately pictured a red zebra with black stripes. I think it's because, if you were to spray red die on to a zebra, the white would turn red, and the black would remain black. Seems more logical to me.

Red & Black all the way, because Red & Black are the colors of Anarchy, duuh /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Black and red look cooler, to put it simply.

yeah, but did you think of the cooler one first?
i myself pictured a red and white one, i guess red being a relatively dark color would replace the black.
Well when you say a zebra with red stripes, it is most logical that one would first think of the zebra and then replace the black stripes with red ones.
However, I read it too fast and it translated as "red zebra" to my mind, which sounds like it refers to the entire animal being red. Thus, I saw a red animal, and then added the black zebra stripes.
So because I am lazy and read too fast the zebra is definately red and black.

When I think of the colors of a zebra I think of it as white with black stripes so, in my mind, if a zebra had red stripes it would still be white.
I like Per's answer the best so far, though.

I started thinking about whether the Solid Color layer would be set to 'Overlay' or 'Multiply'...

Red and White for ultimate contrast, I had a similar fantasy this weekend about if a breed of Arabian horses could produce a pink horse and how much money you could sell them for.
Also I liked Per's answer and Jzero's rofl!

I seriously doubt that any (younger) non Germans will understand your joke (and probably most Germans wouldn't either) /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

See I knew something cool would come out of this poll option on the new boards. I knew.
Hey Frosty, you're a bloody vertex... xD
But yeah, gotta agree on the "cool" part. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Since a Zebra is a white (actually light grey I think) animal with black stripes, if I saw a zebra with red stripes it would still be a white animal. Thus Red and white.
Of course I never would see a zebra with red stripes, so it's a moot point and I'll go with Per's answer instead, but rather less elegantly.

Funny, when I worked with them, the stripes were more like a dark metallic blue/purple, a bit like a crows feather.
Mr Ed was a zebra.

i worked on an exotic animal farm for a summer, and helped raise a baby male and baby female zebra. Im fairly certain a zebra with red stripes would also still have black stripes, so it would be black white AND red.

Red and White for ultimate contrast
[/ QUOTE ]
That depends on the shade of red; absolute red has a value exactly between black and white, so the contrast between black and red would be the same as the contrast between white and red.
And why does everyone keep saying that zebras are white animals with black stripes? I say a zebra is a black animal with white stripes! I'd like to see someone refute that.

Hm. Well the stripes are all about confusing the eye into thinking that a heard of zebra are one big entity. With that in mind, I think the white and red would work better. Black and red would tend to merge into one colour.
