today's the big day. I'm gonna propose to my girlfriend of 5+ years. Wedding won't be for a couple of years though.
I'll probally be 27 then.

I'm curious as to how old you married folk were when you ended it all...erm i mean....entered the best years of your life?

wish me luck

I was 26 when I got married... but then again, I was still 26 when it all ended /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Still willing to do it all again, though.

Best of luck to you. Not that you need it. It will be a magical moment, I am sure.

Awwwwwwwwwwww

If you have doubts, now is the time to start clearing those out. Be realistic. Don't compromise. Think about long-term consequences and unexpected circumstances.

Congratz! One bit of advice, some girls have great memories. So make sure you create some real good ones while your so young and do nice things once in while just for the hec of it. : )

I just did it about 30min ago. She said yes of coarse.
Plan A, B, and C failed.
I had suprised her by coming up to Bowling Green where she is gettting her master's degree. I got in her apt while she was out and decorated the place with tons and tons of candles and flower petals. Made her a Shrimp Alfredo dinner and I was going to bring the ring out on top of the desert.

but...
she followed me into the damned kitchen. I told her to sit down but she just kept squirting ready whip in my mouth.
/images/graemlins/frown.gif
So plan A is down the drain.

Plan B.
go for a walk with here and propose to her at the University Seal. There is a superstition that when a couple kiss's at the seal they will be married one day. (we did that years and years ago)
Her legs were sore from walking around all day with her mom. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Plan C.
Take here to the outdoor coffee shop where we had our first date many years ago.
She's not thirsty.
/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Plan D code name NIKE (just do it)
She was sitting on the couch. I said "Was dinner ok?"
she said "yes it was great"
I dropped down to my knee and said " then will you have dinner with me every day for the rest of our lives." as i opened the box.

She said yes.....

now silly me was expecting to get a piece........boy was I wrong. We have to show all her friends and call everyone. So, she's on the phone and I'm on Polycount.
OH yeah.

Thanks for all the kind words. I truly know I'm ready for this and were both taking our time with it.

well. see ya all ......she's off the phone /images/graemlins/smile.gif

plans never work.... but hey, it allowed you to be spontaneous, and from the sound of things, that played out better than the 'classic setups' would have!
congrats!

My plan was:

"can you take thursday off?"

"why?"

"we could go buy a big ring."

...it worked. Then when we got then she proposed to me.

thanks again guys

I'm not moving to BG because she is done in May.
Wherever she goes for her PHD i'll follow her.

Most likely it will be Washington DC

I might have a new job working downtown cincinnati designing webpages and doing some interactive stuff soon as well.

Where the hell at?! I live in Cincinnati and earned both of my degrees here, but I'll be damned if I can find a decent job in this town. Looking more for 3d/interactive multimedia, but I'd love to hear what places you're looking into.

It's called RPI graphical data solutions. THe only way I found out about them because the owner is my Aunt's neighbor.
I agree that Cincy blows for jobs in our field.
It's nice to know there is another polycounter in the Natty.

My parents told me that before you get married you have to take a long road trip together. If anything's wrong with the relationship it'll definitely show up when you spend a month in a car together.

They've been married for 27 years so it probably isn't bad advice.

Congratulations! On my second marriage and totally loving it the second time around. Got married the first time at 21, divorced by 25, and married again at 30. In fact, i met my current wife the day my divorce from the first one was final. My wife lived together for almost 6 years before we actually got married.

Oh and we did the road trip thing a couple of times, I think that's good advice.

So congrats again! Hope you have many long happy years together.
