Well. Hope this works.
Everyone like my new avatar? So here's this elf guy; I finally got him rigged and posed. For those of you who missed the WIP thread this guy was supposed to resemble the LOTR cast; it was meant to look as much like Legolas as possible without bringing a lawsuit. I kinda think he looks like a young Elrond.
All comments are welcome.

Wow, man, that kicks some major ass. Don't really know what to comment on man. Love the character, the design looks great and your flow looks great. Would like to see more - like some wireshots or flats of the skin.

yes no doubt this is a very together looking piece. i'd like to see a bigger render, myself, but maybe that's just my screen resolution talking /images/graemlins/laugh.gif show some closeups of those lovely shoulder bits you modeled out, these pictures just don't quite do them justice. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

A larger version of the image please. It's too good looking to ignore all the details.
Wow yeah looking sweet joolz, but I agree. Give us a bigger render!

Bigger, eh? Now you guys are just gonna rip it to shreds! FINE. But I'll have my disclaimers. Mainly, it wasn't intended to be shown really big. The textures are fairly simple- I didn't spend tons of time on 'em. I've posted the face diffuse and the main body diffuse. I also had bumps, alphas, and speculars, as well as seperate textures for the armor, straps, sword, and quiver. Never got around to making a bow. Also of note, I originally planned on using one level of meshsmooth, but ultimately I wasn't crazy about the look- it just felt too soft. This will be more obvious in the big render here.

Man, it still looks damn fine...makes me embarrased to post any of my stuff (which I rarely do anyway /images/graemlins/smile.gif). But I do get what you mean about the resolution/size thing. I dunno if you want any crits, but here they are anyway /images/graemlins/smile.gif
-the bumpmap on the kilt-thing is great, but it looks as if you used kinda the same one on the legs...which I think doesn't really work. I don't know what metaerial you where going for, but it just doesn't look like any material which would be used for pants /images/graemlins/smile.gif Maybe go for a leather look?
-The blade of the knife/shortsword he's holding needs some work...looks very generic and fake, and makes it stand out from the rest of the exelent work.
-I really dig the fore-arm guards...beautifully done. Same for the shoulder-armour.
-It only shows up in the large render, but the boundary between the hair and the background is screaming for some extra detail...maybe a shell of polygons tightly packed over the whole hair-geometry and alpha'd with strands of hair, just to make that boundary a bit fuzy, if you know what I'm getting at?
Anyway, it's a stunning model. Must have been fun watching the final renders popping up after you finished it /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Looks great, i think the sword looks a little puny tho.

Thanks, all. Yes, the short sword is pretty lame- I didn't even texture it. MacD- that's good advice on the hair, and the bump map issue you mentioned I agree should be worked on. This really was a fun project. I hope I can do more characters at this level soon.

You should least subd the hands and im sorry to say but if it feels too smooth you have modeled it wrong.
The head is really good i just think you should push the other parts to that level aswell /images/graemlins/wink.gif
