Hey guys god work , Cheeseontoast , I like your gladiator alot.
Hey can any1 answer my question please.
I want to know How to : Delete Vertices that are not shared by any vertex connections.
For a example a vertex between a Edge.
I'm new to max , In maya You can select all the vertices and delete the ones that don't share connections.
I'm currently building a ChainMail Armor.. I want to know How to deform it in Max without deforming the actually torus's that make up the ChainMail Armor.
Is there anyway advanced procedure for this problem.

irritant - those tubes are dying for some detail. If nothing else, just give them the segmented look the original had. Something.

Rens: that poor guy!
Ramucho, actually I don't really have a clue ha! First I put a default Max skylight light in the scene, clicked lighttracer and redered but it looked too ghostly hence I added a directional spot to brighten the lighting and an omni as kicker light. Don't know if the 'lighttracer' thing was still active tho... That one dropdown menu is not very self explanatory!
Fritz, I added that one deep crease because the are is supposed to be covered with a rather thick spandex material according to the original design. But yeah the crease mlight be too thick (esp since spandex don't even crease that way :P )... I'll definately ease it on the map.

Yes, it is what you think.
I would like as many comments on this as possible espeically how to make it better.

Actually, you probably can't tell from those pictures, but the tubes have some corrosion on them that looks really cool when you are moving around in the game and the light hits the normals at various angles. It gets kinda lost when just taking a snapshot...

t was roughly 10 months since I decided to sit back and study anatomy..and that slowly lead to my first ever original character design. There were some long breaks in between and I didnt really start on the modeling until the December of 2006.
Modeling done with max and mudbox.Textured and composited in Photoshop.
My inspiration was Artwork by Kolby Jukes,Blizzard and Aaron St Goddard.

Very nice sculpt and renders, Sri Ram Chandra, but the textures are looking a little washed out to me. They could do with some more variation, contrast and detail to be as good in quality as your mudbox sculpt there.
Also, were you inspired a lot by the Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft cinematics for this? The first thing I thought of when I saw those renders was the Blizzard cinematics of the Tauren characters:

hey, thanks for the comments guys !
@cholden,Sectaurs,JDinges : Thank you !!
@Davision3D : Thanks man, this was my first anatomy study;I plan on continuing my anatomy study with my next model too..
@Renaud : Whoa ! Thanks man,its great to see you here; This board looks like it has all the 1337 gameart talent in one place! Will certainly dig through the place. And hey, when are you gonna update your website man ?? The last work I've seen was your uber DW2 model...I want to see more of your work !!
@MoP : Fristoff,I must say that I loved your spectacular DWII entry!! congrats on the 3rd place!
Thanks for the suggestions,I'm glad you liked my model;the diffuse had to go through many revisions and I probably spent 3/4th of the time on texturing..I hope to improve upon this with my next one.
And yes,I was heavily inspired by that Tauren Shaman scene from WOW3 intro.I hoped to capture the "Blizzard" ambiance for my final scene before I started the composites, and I'm glad you liked it /images/graemlins/smile.gif
I intend to make a game model of my Dinotaur soon[and with a new hopefully improved texture job!] and I'm sure this board is gonna be a great place to learn /images/graemlins/grin.gif

05-22-2007, 11:18 AM
The texture is nice odium, a little large for just an eye, but I don't think it's done. It seems like you took a short cut for the veins and just overlayed a texture that had a somewhat vein like structure. Granted it works well as eye noise, but I would go in and paint some nice prominent veins that vary in opacity.
This is something I started the other night.

Doesn't the fact that your eye-texture is three times larger than the average body posted in here tell you anything, Odium?
Even half this size is criminally oversized for an eye, and especially for something that looks like a painted/filtered eye on a background of marble. And i don't mean to be nasty either, it's just that it seems you feel justified to show your stuff in more detail than anyone else
Imagine someone posting their entire characters texture to this scale in this thread. It's just not done

MightyPea, Per128, I'm going to say a massive shut the fuck up, if you will. I posted that because it was what I was working on. It was that resolution for a reason. Not all stuff is ingame.
Jesus, I never expected to hear such childish, immature remarks from you two on here of all places. You really have shown me you two in a new light if I'm honest, and added yourself to the "over the top, big headed, thinks they are better than everybody" twat brigade.
No worries. There are still people here that can give crits without being a twat. But it’s amazing why anybody would go near people like you with that attitude. I know, I used to be that way many years ago with a mod I worked on. Thank god things changed otherwise I wouldn’t of seen how bitter I looked to other people. Like you.

Where did i even sound remotely bitter? In my response to Per? Lighten the fuck up. This is polycount, not cgsociety. I told you that your eye took up more screenspace and bandwidth than other people's entire model/texture, and that this came across as you being a bit full of yourself. The responses after mine only confirmed that by poking fun at you.

Fun fact: The Sims 2's eyes were apparently on 1024x1024 texture sheets, but only like 80x60 or something. And there was nothing else on the image. Just one eye up in the top left corner.
Any idea why you would ever want to do that?
Vitor

not really sure of this, but probably with all those character customizations, they got each attribute in a different texture file, and then pack it toghether in a one full texture to run ingame. As the UVWs must be there the eye texture just takes it's place.

The art director here at work was actually the art director on Sims 2. He told me that they used a 1024*1024 for the entire head, including the interior of the mouth. The top corner held a 32*32 swapable map for changing eye color.

The size is okay, actually. But when running an actual weld, you should be making a small circular motion as you run the bead.

Not like you need to be that accurate on a model though :P

Hey all...its been awhile since I've been on the forums. Been pretty busy.
Decided to really get serious about normal mapping so this is my first really attempt at trying a "pretty" face. Don't have much experience with normal mapping characters so any type of feel back would be hugely appreciated! Not sure if I'm going to build a whole character with this head or not....I guess if I can do a good job with the head I'll decide from there. I haven't taking the model into mudbox yet...wanna get as much done in 3Dmax as I can. Anyway let me know what you think....

When can I buy one of those Scooby? Loving the lines on the side view, 3/4 is nice too. Top view is a little wonky, but you don't see cars often from that angle.

If it's electric then it is going to need some skinnier tyres /images/graemlins/smile.gif All that energy lost to friction makes baby jesus cry.
