View Full Version : Change gizmo transparency + global cage colour?

- Is it possible to change the transparency of the gizmo (the cage of a deformer such as FFD, bend, twist)? I know how to change the colour.
- Is there a way to change the cage colour of meshsmooth globally? There is a colour picker box in the meshsmooth Local Control rollout, but this will change the colour for that object only. I want to change it for all objects.
Thanks

I've changed my viewport colour but can't see the text in the top left of the viewport now (where it says the view and shading). Is there a way to change the text colour?

Is this some kind of joke I'm not getting? Viewport label color is set in exactly the same list as viewport background.
All colors are changed from the same interface, which it seems you already have found, so what exactly are you asking?

Sorry, I see now it's not a joke, but a habit. You've started 76 "help me" threads with a total post count of 341...

My sense of humour's better than that.
Cheers. Where is meshsmooth cage (global)?

You've obviously got issues perna. If you want to go and vent your anger somewhere, go and do it elsewhere.

You must be right. As evidenced from my previous messages in this thread I am a very angry person with severe psychological issues and your personal attacks are entirely justified and not in any way ironic.

To those interested - There doesn't seem to be a global setting for meshsmooth cage colour, so you'll need to change all existing objects individually.

I've come to expect negative comments from you, and I'm not referring only to my threads.

Hahah. You're both whacked!
Playdo, keep looking around, play with every color.
Some settings can be set at startup by saving a maxstart.max file in your Scenes folder (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=14095982&linkID=9241177), worth a try.
I think the cage colors have transparency control, just use a less saturated color.

:)
Cheers Eric. Pretty sure that there is no transparency control settings. Yep, I desaturated the colour.

I posted, at worst, brief and mild criticism based on objective, demonstrable fact, and you responded with harsh personal attacks. I'm not bothered, but you plain mad over-reacted, whether or not you have the integrity to admit that to yourself.
You can indeed permanently change the meshsmooth cage colour. Use the gizmos/gizmos setting in the Colors panel. Restart max for it to take effect.

You insulted me for having difficulty working something out, and then implied that I hadn't bothered. Whether it was an over reaction or not, I don't take lightly to it.

Does anyone know what they have put the control point colour for the FFD cage under? It's not linked to the meshsmooth cage vertex colour, which is why I was getting mixed up before.

FFD does indeed use the exact same gizmo colors as Meshsmooth.

FFD:
unselected control points = gizmo
unselected cage = gizmo
selected control points = selected gizmo
MESHSMOOTH:
unselected vertex ticks = vertex ticks
unselected cage = gizmo
selected vertex ticks= subselection
FFD does indeed use the exact same gizmo colors as Meshsmooth.
Not for the control points
I was trying to have one colour for the vertex/control point and one for the cage, also when unselected. It looks like the unselected FFD control points and cage colour can't be separated.
