Here's a beholder I'm working on, ZBrush render.
Really fun creature to sculpt, and I'm now in the process of painting the textures. The low-poly version will be at around 7k tris, and I'll post it here when done.
Thanks!

Good detailed sculpt!
Despite fear of ridicule, wasn't the beholder from Dungeons and Dragons the AWESOME 90's kid series? Or is it Doom. I'm too old and haggered to remember

Not sure what the origin is, but they're common in D&D Lore. I remember a beholder appearing in the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon as well.

I believe the Beholder originated in the Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual version 1.
By the way: AWESOME SCULPT.

I actually have a phobia of Beholders...not sure why, but anyway really cool sculpt! I think the color pass could be broken up a little more, the sculpt itself is great :)

beholders are actually copyrighted by TSR (now owned by wizards of the coast) thats why it hasnt appeared in games other than D&D licenced ones. love the sculpt, it kicks ass. And speaking about ass, i never knew beholders had ass cracks! which brings me images of sexual games between beholders ewwwwwwwwwww thanks!

LOL I took some "artistic freedom" with the backside. I found the references to be boring.
Thanks for the background on Beholders/TSR/Wizards and the compliment!

gives word mindfuck a whole new meaning, huh?
model looks really cool, but the texture still has that polypaint vibe.
not sure what it is but i think i's not as organic as it could. material definition makes me think of handpainted figurines rather than actual living creature.
